Hi !
I have decided to make this new forum because I just applied to the University of West Florida FNP Online Program and thought this would be a good way for all prospects to communicate as we go through the admission process. I know we must all have some questions, and I am hoping we can all ease each other through this process.
If you run into this forum and are currently in the program please feel free to give us an inside scoop :). Any info will be greatly appreciated. I know this is a fairly new program, so I hope to hear from you soon!!

Thank you so much! Fingers crossed we find all the preceptors we need in time!!
OceanBay98 said:Hey, I was also accepted for the Summer 2023 program and thinking to start looking for preceptors now. I got the email stating each course has a clinical focus and that I need to find a preceptor for each. Can I ask how many preceptors you had to find? I see we have care of adult 1 and care of adult 2, care of women, and child and family. I'm guessing we need a pediatric preceptor, women's health, and some kind of primary care. So would that be 3 preceptors? Do you know if we can use the same preceptor for adult 1 and adult 2?
You can definitely use same preceptor for adult 1 and 2. Women's health was renamed so you can follow a primary care if they do breast exam and paps smear.
SO sorry about this, I don't get notified like I used to but message me and I can try to help.
During my search for preceptors, I always find 3 per class just in case.
I'm not here to badmouth the program, but to shed a little light on their program, because it's not for everyone.
I am currently well into the program. There is zero guidance. It is 100% self-taught. Reflective analysis by the instructors may or may not consist of 3 words (my longest). You'll need to be prepared for this. They also bring in questions not in the text or assigned chapters, so don't limit yourself by "assigned chapters", and be prepared to expand your education on your own. Also, my first semester, students were arguing, and successfully, test questions. The UWF answer was to shut down this opportunity. You will not have the opportunity to review questions and answers and will have to deduce on your own where you are deficient in either knowledge or test-taking skills. What I am saying, come into the program realizing you are on your own, and work hard from that. It's a means to an end, and the real question is how much are you willing to invest to ultimately graduate yourself? If it's not worth it without some institutional resources helping you, or you want actual instruction, this isn't the program for you. I think it's fair to state I've lost about 50% of my classmates already. I don't have factual numbers but that's about the loss in the number of people posting in our mandatory posts.
