Hi !
I have decided to make this new forum because I just applied to the University of West Florida FNP Online Program and thought this would be a good way for all prospects to communicate as we go through the admission process. I know we must all have some questions, and I am hoping we can all ease each other through this process.
If you run into this forum and are currently in the program please feel free to give us an inside scoop :). Any info will be greatly appreciated. I know this is a fairly new program, so I hope to hear from you soon!!

I like it so far. I'm not complaining, but about to finish my 3rd class and starting my 4th class in mid October. These classes are quarterly (meaning lasting 11 weeks). They waived the GRE requirements due to COVID19.

I’m not sure but I know in my class, we are either local to the school or all from FL. This school is good if you are able to self teach yourself. Mostly modules and discussions, 1-2 exams, PowerPoint presentations. Starting my 3rd semester with 2 classes next week with patho and policy.
I’m sorry for late response, been helping with administering COVID vaccines and also balancing my job with a loved one in hospital for COVID.

Thank you!

Currently in Evidence Based Practice and Advanced Pharm which is semester 3 and scheduled to take Adv Health Assess, Foundations of Nrg Sci, and Pop Health Promo and Mgt. I am taking the classes out of order due to classes that are available each semester.
You will find out if you are accepted 2 weeks after the deadline. I applied in Jan, and found out March 12. The application process was simple and straight forward and the enrollment recruiter was awesome at guiding me on what's next to submit for the FNP program. Afterwards, you will receive an email of stating you are accepted with paperwork to sign to accept the seat for the FNP program and then to schedule an appt with your academic advisor who will automatically sign you up for classes.
Attached is the plan of study. Start looking for your preceptors as soon as you are in and registered for classes.
Again Good Luck getting and keep trying. This was my 4th and final attempt for a state university. ^_^ You will get there when the time is right.
Can you tell me if they have a white coat ceremony?

No, there is no white coat ceremony. That's for pharmacy, medical, and physician assistant programs. Whitecoat ceremony was initially for medical school in 1993 when the medical students start clinical and recite the Hippocratic oath. Our school is not that big, small campus and class setting. I don't care for it, more money to spend when you shouldn't have to in my opinion. I know that I have some of the best classmates to lean on when I need motivation so far. We are a cohort of 20-25 students, and you will see a mix of MSN-FNP or MSN for educator or MSN executive in and out. It's awesome to see what each person's background is like and what they bring to the table.
I will have exactly 1 year to graduate from July 30, 2021. Who's counting? I cannot believe how fast time was flying since November 2020, when I started researching for my schools. Dr. Thomas is the best!

I start this fall and I am super excited, but nervous to begin. I hope I can make it through.?
You will do fine. Make sure you have a 60-day calendar to write out your assignments or utilize icalendar from apple or Google calendar to sync your assignments for each class so that you know when they are due. So you won't get caught off guard, as I did a couple of days ago submitting 5 assignments by 1 am EST (school is CST). I work per diem in a clinic to keep my skills up while going to school. But Summer semesters are tough because of shorter times and cram assignments in 13 weeks rather than 16 weeks.

We were able to catch 3-4 gallons each run. We went 4 times and it was fun, and we visited some springs also! You should check it out. With preceptors, they want you to find primary care and not acute care.
