University of West Florida (UWF) FNP Program Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi !

I have decided to make this new forum because I just applied to the University of West Florida FNP Online Program and thought this would be a good way for all prospects to communicate as we go through the admission process. I know we must all have some questions, and I am hoping we can all ease each other through this process.

If you run into this forum and are currently in the program please feel free to give us an inside scoop :). Any info will be greatly appreciated. I know this is a fairly new program, so I hope to hear from you soon!!

I just started the program May 11 and all I can say it's amazing how straight forward the classes are. Currently in Evidence Based Practice and Advanced Pharm which is semester 3 and scheduled to take Adv Health Assess, Foundations of Nrg Sci, and Pop Health Promo and Mgt. I am taking the classes out of order due to classes that are available each semester.

You will find out if you are accepted 2 weeks after the deadline. I applied in Jan, and found out March 12. The application process was simple and straight forward and the enrollment recruiter was awesome at guiding me on what's next to submit for the FNP program. Afterwards, you will receive an email of stating you are accepted with paperwork to sign to accept the seat for the FNP program and then to schedule an appt with your academic advisor who will automatically sign you up for classes.

Attached is the plan of study. Start looking for your preceptors as soon as you are in and registered for classes.

Again Good Luck getting and keep trying. This was my 4th and final attempt for a state university. ^_^ You will get there when the time is right.

How’s it going? Are you still liking the program? Can you give me any insight into it? I have a meeting with an advisor this week.

With COVID19, everything is remote learning and online learning. for example, our suturing class workshop is a one day event all day from 8-4 pm online video distance learning. So no lab skills as of right now.

So sorry for late response, I was in Homosassa and Crystal River this past weekend catching scallops. Best place right now is Steinhatchee where you can catch 5 gal in less than 3 hours.

Anywho, sorry with off topic. I am doing well with my pharmacology high B (test anxiety) and Evidenced based practice class started from May 11 - June 26 - got my A for that class, follow that syllabus and rules to the T and you will get your A.

Do know you are searching for your OWN preceptor, which is a hassle since COVID19 most providers are doing telemedicine. =(

Mine says an admission decision has been made and I will receive a letter in the mail. I assume this means denied ?

Definitely don't be discouraged, took me 6 years to finally jump into the MSN program and really DO it. But I was denied a few times from USF, UCF, and FAU, maybe they are revewing your application. Also, there is a waiting list for alternatives. Takes time, but there is a reason for everything. ^_^ Stay safe.

Thank you for the info! I do know that I will be finding my own preceptor. My hospital usually lets you precept there in hopes you will come back to work there. So, I'm hoping that will make it easier. But, if COVID is still around then it will be a pain. AND now you have made me want to go scalloping. I don't live too far from there and I have never been. Many of my coworkers have been lately and love it.

How is everyone liking the program? I live in Alaska and am considering them closely..
