Hello Everyone!!
It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?
I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.
I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!
Just now, Livsmadmom said:I thought you had to have those classes done before you started the program? So wouldn’t you have to have them done by September if you were pulled off the waitlist? I am applying for Spring 2020. I added the intro to nursing class when Dallas Community went online and I figured I had nothing better to do. I’m taking Patho this Summer ( as well as nutrition in case I have to go with TWU) and Pharm in the fall.
Yes you have to have them done before you start J1.

That’s bs. You need to get a c or above to pass the classes.

I have a quick question for you guys. I applied for the Fall 2020 AOBSN at UTA and was wait listed. I very much doubt I will be called off the wait list as I am hearing some people with points of 8 and high got wait listed. I am more in the 7.4 (ish) range if I remember correctly. So I am planning on taking Patho, Pharm and the clinical nursing class at UTA before reapplying for the Spring 2021 term. My question is would you guys recommend I split Patho and Pharm up? I was thinking taking Pharm and clinical nursing Summer 2020 then Patho in Fall 2020. One reason is I am paying out of pocket and during COVID times it would be easier for me to come up with $2K needed vs $3K. The other one being I hear you have to make a B or higher if you get a C you will get placed on probation. Since I plan on working while taking this classes figure why stress split them up, work on getting those coveted B or higher grades, and reapply in Spring 2021. What are your guys thoughts on this strategy? Any guidance would be much appreciated.
P.S: I have a MS in Counseling so doing these hard sciences has been an entire new experience for me :)
Split them up, take patho first then pharm. Intro to nursing is easy so you can take it with either one. Make sure you aim for an A if you're going to take it before applying because they will take those grades into account.

Yes which is why I wanted to take them all 3 in Summer of 2020 but I very very much doubt I will get pulled off the wait list. Like I mentioned I think people which much higher scores got wait listed and some have already been called off the wait list. So I was thinking about not stressing over Fall 2020 and just set my aim at reapplying for Spring 2021.

Those classes do not count towards your science grade. They do count for your overall GPA, but to get into the nursing program, a passing grade of a C is fine

Yeah that's what I meant thanks for clarifying. So technically if you get a C the overall GPA will go down which means your total points go down. I wouldn't try to just make a C if the total points is already low.
I took both Pharm and patho at the same time. While working two full time jobs and dealing with a two year old and managing my 8 rental properties. I made an A in both of them. I read the RRD and went off the blueprint and made sure to know each item listed. It wasn’t very difficult. I do have 15 years as a paramedic, which kinda helped with both.
