Hello Everyone!!
It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?
I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.
I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

Problem is I didn't drop a class I was failing, so I am now on probation. I'm a transfer student, so they used my transfer credits in my score calculations.
Anyone have any advice?
Was the class you failed a nursing class? If so be careful because you can only fail two during the entire duration of the program. I dont think there is much you can do now. Moving forward try to plan a course load that will allow you to be successful. Also apply to a wide variety of programs. This will increase your chances of getting in to a nursing program. Despite failing one class your overall score is competitive for the on campus program. Are you partnered? That would give you a leg up on the application process.

it was micro. I already took it in CC and got a 'B' grade. Micro and intro to nursing are the only B's I have. I actually had a better score before I took classes at UTA. I think it was a 7.65 or something. I'm not partnered, so that's another mark against me.

Hey there sorry for the late reply. I just had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand. I have been learning how to work, and study with one hand lol. You dont appreciate your hands until you cant use one of them. ?
The patho class has required reading materials that the tests and quizes are based on. The format of questions that you see on the quizes is the format of questions that is on the test. I am not saying they are the same questions, just the same type of questions. I hope that makes sense. I watched the recorded lectures memorized the notes, and then watched the lectures a second time right before the test. The second time I watched the videos I would sometimes put the video on 1.5X or 2X times speed to quickly review. You could also go over your quizes closed book a second time to see how you do without notes. The key is to memorize information and then to recall that information. Also I didnt use this but a lot of people said the quizlet flash cards are good for memorizing. I hope that helps.
Anybody have pharmacology study tips?

This has helped majorly! My brain at the beginning of this class was trying to grasp everything and I had bad brain farts LOL All of a sudden, yesterday, I realized what information was important and what to zero in on. I guess my brain wasn't quite back from vacation yet lol
Hey! I am getting kind of frustrated. I graduated in 1997 from the University of Oregon. This term, I am taking the last 4 classes I need before starting the nursing prerequisites, at least I thought so! My classes are being transferred over as 2/3 credit. So all of my 3 credit courses are being given 2 credits. How do I fix this? If I can take Texas Government in 3 weeks and get 3 credits and my A, how can they not give me the full credit for those courses...which looking back were much harder! My sociology class was 40% comprehensive Final. That was pre internet

The only thing i can comment on is that if your university was on a quarter system thats most likely why its 2 credits.
Just now, Livsmadmom said:It’s weird though because even if it was on the trimester we went through the entire book. So how is that different from my three week course?
It has to do with the whole credit system. Did you JUST receive your transfer credit report? Have you spoke with advising? I was an advisor on the rn-bsn side and if a student had quarter system we had to do a secondary review and basically plug in the missing credits. Keep in mind it might be different on the bsn side
I am slowly working through it with them. I took two American Government classes, from Sept 21- to the middle of March and they gave me 3 credits. It’s just frustrating. I’m going to keep plugging away and see if the first level advisors can fix everything before I try something else. It has caused me to branch out and apply at TWU.

Our state really loves Texas Government and History. They get kind of picky about them
