University of South Florida Accelerated BSN

Anyone have any insight on this program? I'm in the process of applying and would love to know about the school!

Hey everyone!

I just got accepted to USF last night too!! =) I'm from Ft. Lauderdale and looking for a place to live...Does anyone know the area well?Looking into apts close to campus.

Ps. If you are still waiting to hear from USF be patient and positive. =) You will hear soon.

Close to the school is convenient but a bit crazy! I got accepted and live in South Tampa, a 15 min drive but better neighborhood and still CHEAP rent!

congrats to everyone that got in!!!!:yeah:

i was place on the alternate list as well.:crying2: such a bummer.... so straderj female.gif and danielmdmelk we're all in the same boat. let's just reamin hopeful and prayerful!!!

yes! Just stay hopeful! I wonder how many people got placed on the alternate list?

For those of you moving from other areas: I'm not sure what the rental rates are in New Tampa (north of the university), but I love this area. If rent is reasonable, I would HIGHLY recommend moving here. I love it here and believe it to be very safe.

We have a bit of construction going on right now (okay a lot...:lol2:), but I've lived here a number of years and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. :)

binforda - I was accepted to the summer Accelerated BSN :)....

straderj - I just found an article on the website that says 15 to 20 alternates are placed on the waitlist....definitely stay hopeful, I was waitlisted for UCF and received an acceptance yesterday....from the posts I read about UCF, it seemed it like it was impossible to move off the list, so it can and does happen....good luck!! :)

Although I am moving away from Tampa to attend UCF program I know ALL about USF's area/Tampa. I would suggest staying away from 42nd st and 46th st. I have not lived over there since 2007, however I still know some students over there and BREAK INS are UP, Especially Avalon located right off Fletcher ave. Its crazy because a girl caught someone climbing her balcony as she got out the shower:down:. Temple Terrance is not a good choice either, my friend just got robbed of all his electronics in Jan. Nobody saw them walk out with his 42 inch Samsung .

I have lived near the stadium twice (Habana ave/MLK & Dale Mabry/Columbus), town and country(bay port community), tampa heights, USF (Berkenridge now call on 42nd) and have never had any problems anywhere.

Since you all do not know where your clinicals are going to be I suggest staying close to I275. Trust me it is far better heading NORTH on I275 in the morning for than heading South on I275 in the morning; HUGE HUGE difference unless you now every back street like I do :twocents:.

Thanks for the advice!! It really helps a lot to know what areas to look at and where to stay away from! Good luck to you at UCF!

Sehsun-

Thanks for all of your advice. I wanted to PM you, but can't quite yet. I really appreciate it... Also, if for any reason, let's say you don't do well in a class do they give you another chance? or do they really try to weed people out? Just curious, because some programs may let you drop to traditional if need be. Thanks again! and congrats to you on graduating!:)

Congrats to all those who were accepted...and to those on the wait list, stay positive! I was wait-listed as well and eventually accepted and I know I wasn't the only one in my class.

Mel, they will let you "decelerate," if needed. I never felt like the instructors were trying to weed anyone out. Additionally, I think you will find the accelerated class to be extremely motivated, successful, and supportive of each other, simply because you aren't the traditional student.

gilbert727 - are you currently in the program or have you already graduated?

I graduated in December.

Congrats to you!:)

Thanks so much! I appreciate you letting me know. USF seems to have an excellent program, but want to make sure I know as much as I can about it before it starts =)

Congrats on graduating too!!!
