Hello! Has anyone applied to University of South Alabama NP program that starts in the Summer of 2017? I have (have no heard whether accepted or not) and was just wanting to connect with some people! What is everyone's experience? Has anyone heard anything about this cycle of admission?

I've applied for Fall 2017 admission to the dual FNP/ACNP program. We'll be in the same clinical cohort :)

There are 2 NPs where I work who did the USA program. They both said it is really up to you how well (or not well) your experience is with the program. You are expected to learn the material on your own, since there are no lectures. You'll take exams using a program that utilizes your computer's camera & audio so they can ensure no cheating occurs.

They did say they felt very prepared and both passed their boards easily. Looking forward to getting started. Maybe we'll be in a few classes together :D

Hello! I actually emailed them to ask if that if for whatever reaSon I did not get accepted for summer 2017 if I would have enough time to re-apply for fall but did not get a response yet (I sent it over the holidays). Either way.. I also know a couple of people that went there and they said that they also felt very prepared for boards and didn't have negative feelings about the school at all! Good luck to you!

Do you know when you'll get your acceptance notification? I believe the deadline to apply for Fall is in February, so you've got some time.

Keep in touch & good luck :)

No I do not know when we get letters - I have heard mixed time lines. You would think they would try to tell us with enough time left to apply for the next admission date. I will post back if I hear anything! :bookworm:

I applied for the Summer 2017 Acute care program. I hope we hear something in the next couple of weeks. 8 weeks from the deadline would be the second week in January, but I have heard from past students that it takes longer than that. Good luck!

I also applied for the Acute Care Program! Where are you from? Good luck to you as well!

I'm from North Carolina. Where are you from?

I am from Kentucky.

I am applying for Fall 2017 FNP/ACNP, I also applied to Rush University. Any advice or thoughts on applications and what really gives you an edge? I fear that because I've only been a nurse for 4 years it might not be appealing enough for my application. Also trying to decide if I should just apply to as many programs as I should for a better chance of starting this fall...thoughts?

I think 4 years of experience is a good amount - I think most schools look at whether or experience you have is related to the field you are applying to. Like I am applying to acute care so they probably want me to have some decent acute care/hospital based experience but every school is different.

i got an email today from USA saying that decisions letters should be being mailed out by the middle/end of this month at the latest for summer start date.
