University of South Alabama FNP

I am applying to USA's FNP program for this fall. I would love to hear from someone who is currently attending or who has recently graduated from this program. Did you have trouble finding clinical preceptors? Are the professors available if you have questions or concerns? How often do you have to visit campus? Overall, are you satisfied with the education you are receiving?

Thanks

Thank you for the update! Makes me feel a little better too.

I got a rejection letter on Saturday Oct 30th.

I had an email conversation with an academic advisor. They were very kind to give quick responses, but they did not tell me if there is anything I can do to strengthen my application. They did say they had 1000 applicants. I was under the impression that they allow a certain number of seats for each program, but now I am thinking they just take a certain number of students and don't focus on the specialty????

I am preparing my summer application (deadline Feb 1st). They said that notification would go out 6-8 weeks after that. I believe that means that I will have to submit a fall application while I am waiting on the summer semester notification. I have decided to also apply for the fall DNP if I don't get into summer.

Does any one have any ideas for what I can do between now and the end of January to improve my resume?????

I can imagine the disappointment, but kudos & encouragement for re-applying. I did get a letter that also said there were over 1,000 applicants. Best wishes for the re-app.

I graduated from USA with my BSN in the regular track in 07. I tell you this was the WORST experience in my life!!!!!!!!!! The teachers read directly off the power points and you were left to teach yourself at home with your book! Clinicals were not a desirable learning atmosphere. You were so scared of your teacher that it impaired you from learning. I started the online FNP program since I figured it would work with my schedule and I heard good things about it while I was in my BSN. Please, the MSN program is a joke there. Even worse than the BSN program. Needless to say I am quitting the program and finding a college that actually wants to teach their students. The MSN program is cheap for a reason, you get what you pay for!!!! Take my advice and stay away from USA!!! Trust me, they respond to you when you are applying, but once you get in the program you are shut off from communication. They just don't care about their students!!!

flgirl 57, did you withdraw from USA and apply somewhere else yet?

Hi,

I finished the FNP program at USA last fall. It was very intensive but the instructors were always there to help me along the way. You are responsible for finding your preceptors, but that really wasn't that difficult. I spoke with the program director and almost everyone who meets the admissions requirements gets accepted. I say almost because the applicants who are right on the line usually haven't gotten accepted. Hope this helps!

What do u mean when u say admission requirements
