  1. Is there a loan repayment program for school nurses?
  2. The courses run as long as the regular USA brick & mortar semesters. You can go to the USA website and look at the semester lengths. The first day of class is the same, and exam week is usually the same. I finished in December. My first program choice was FNP, but after a semester of clinicals I knew I had ZERO interest in adult care and requested a switch to the PNP program, which was granted. I was then a happy camper from there on out. Both programs are VERY challenging, but I found the first semester of FNP much harder due to an enormous amount of reading articles, three or four texts, power points, etc. The PNP instructors made the course work much more streamlined. I passed the cert exam and have a PNP offer for a hospital-owned clinic with a good salary, bonus options, benefit packet, etc. You have made a good choice. The program is hard and you will bang you head on your desk many times, but in the end, it is worth it. Line up a clinical preceptor now. The school does not do this and it is tough to get your foot in the door if you are not already networked closely with a PNP primary care doc or NP. I moved across states during the program, and had to knock on clinic doors to get my hours in, but the opportunities are out there. My best advice is to get a GOOD PNP primary care review book NOW and start learning all of the material. Study it when you study the course assigned topics. Best wishes~
  3. What DNP program were you in?
  4. I am a BSN RN teaching LPNs for the past two years. I LOVE it! A student today said to me, as this student is on the verge of not passing one of my courses, that he respects me. He said his classmates say I'm tough, but very fair and an excellent instructor. I haven't had any negative evaluations to date. The key is holding a bar of professionalism high, but also being empathetic and always fair. I give my expectations in written form along with consequences of violating those. It makes the job easier as they know and respect my expectations. They know that if they've received an "A" in my class, that they've worked incredibly hard for it and can proudly expect to do well on state board exams. I am enrolled in an on-line MSN program with a post masters certificate in nursing education. I'd like to keep options open for the future. Good luck with your decision. I don't think you'll regret teaching either clinical or classroom. They are both incredibly rewarding.
  5. I can imagine the disappointment, but kudos & encouragement for re-applying. I did get a letter that also said there were over 1,000 applicants. Best wishes for the re-app.
  6. My acceptance letter was sent via snail mail. Two pages -- one is my schedule & the other gives a website to go to. At the website, you have a "to do" list of things that have to be completed by early November. This includes things like TB tests, drug test, background check, vaccinations, physical exam, etc. Therefore, my acceptance is conditional upon all of these things being turned in. I would think there are many less Peds applicants than in the adult practitioner areas. That is probably why I have my letter already. Originally, I remember being told that letters would be sent out by November 1st. Give it time although I know how hard it is to wait at the mailbox each day.
  7. If it helps any, I received my letter for USAs Peds NP program (MSN) yesterday.
  8. Received my USA peds NP letter in the mail yesterday.
  9. I received my acceptance letter for the USA peds NP program yesterday.
  10. "Last week, I spoke to someone on the phone regarding my application for spring (ANP program). She said to give them 7 weeks to make a decision. That would put it well into November!" :confused:Wow! Into November? I really thought we'd know by the end of October...
  11. I'm guessing electroconvulsive therap if referring to mental health position.
  12. Hey, my apologies. I realized you'd applied to UAB after I thought I was posting to a USA application board...then, I could only edit & not delete from my Iphone. I applied to the peds nurse practioner program at South Alabama for spring 2011 & am so anxious to hear from admissions. Best wishes with your program.
  13. I applied for the Peds NP program, MSN level -- no news yet. I'm checking my mail box daily & Email in anticipation of news this week. Congrats on your acceptance & best wishes to everyone else. Please post as you receive news -- I find it encouraging.
