Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

Hey @FloridaRN14 how much longer does your coworker have left in the program? How was it finding a preceptor? Best of luck to you as well, be sure to keep us all posted! Welcome to the forum!

Hey @TinyNurse18, thank you! She started in the Summer so is in her second semester and hasn’t started clinicals yet, but she did say the school has affiliations with preceptors in different states who have precepted previous students so that you do have some help finding them. If I hear anything else from her I’ll post it here.

Just checking in with everyone! Has anyone heard anything back yet?

Nothing yet, just the email confirmation from the college that my application was complete and ready to review. Will we really not hear back on a decision until 8-10 weeks after the February deadline? Seems sooo far away!

Thank you TinyNurse'18 for starting this helpful thread. I am also applying for Psychiatric (Family) Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP at USA, for fall 2021. I have worked in various specialties & floated to many in the last 8years but currently work as an Informatics Nurse Specialist. I am still at the initial application process with NursingCAS and waiting for just one more transcript to fill out the supplemental application. Does anyone know if USA uses the letter (A) or point (A+) grading system. I found conflicting information on the internet but their website reflect a letter grade system - https://www.southalabama.edu/departments/registrar/records/GPA.html

I look forward to everyone's successful application/acceptance into their program of choice and probably start a facebook group soon for anyone that might be interested  - in networking for clinical preceptorships, study group/quizlets when accepted into their respective online programs.

Thanks again, everyone.

I just submitted my primary application in Nursing CAS for Fall 2021 BSN-DNP! I want to do the pediatric primary care NP route. I've been a pediatric nurse for about 3 years. Worked in peds float pool, peds surgery/trauma/burns floor, and a peds neuro clinic!

Specializes in ICU.

Hi everyone,

I am currently located in Florida. I am going back and forth on rather or not to even apply to the AGACNP/FNP program due to possibility of having a hard time finding a preceptor. Any information on this ? I’ve read quite a few horror stories about this school when it comes to this issue.

IDK. I'm on the fence, I've been accepted to the part-time program for AGACNP at Mercer. I really would like to go ahead and complete the DNP and be done. Choices choices...what would you do???

As far as your question, if this is really what you want then it's going to happen,  period. I think you should step out on faith and go for it. Why not??? I have found that alot of times in this career I have played in for a while, that people will tell you false info to deter you. Follow your dream and don't let anyone tell you different.

Just wanted to say hi!

I just submitted my payment for the Fall 2021 BSN to DNP dual role FNP/AGACNP program! Did anyone else get the email about the deadline extension to March 1st? Any ideas why that occurred?

I'm actually from Washington state but work full-time in a combined telemetry and ICU unit so my preference is for an online program. USA is the only program I could find in the nation with not approved clinical placement in my state and a fully online program but also a specific cardiovascular subspecialty. I know most graduate programs aid in completing board certifications prior to graduation for most specializations but I was extremely excited to find a program that puts an emphasis not only on cardiovascular but also on clinical lipidology. My end goal is a practice focusing on cardiac health and education in my area. I've only applied for this specific program this year but if I don't make the cut I will begin applying for multiple programs to start next year. This was honestly the best fit for me though.

Anyone else for Fall 2021 specifically? Do you have a specific goal?
Are you applying to more than one program at this time?
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone more and best wishes on acceptance to everyone!
