University of South Alabama DNP Fall 2021

Published

Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

That seems so far away, good luck to you! How long have you worked in NICU?

5 years, what about you?

It'll be two years in a few months! Do you know much information about the program? Like besides what is on the website?

No I don’t know much about the program... I’ve heard mostly positive things. What other programs did you apply too?

Same! And I have also applied to UAB. I am in the South Florida area, and these are the only two schools nearby. I know it's distance learning, but I don't want travel to be too much of a hassle when there are campus visits. I also wanted to apply to Emory's program, but I spoke to someone via email and they said after Fall 2020 they will no longer offer the BS to DNP option, only a Master's.

I thought about applying to Vanderbilt but it’s so expensive...

I'm in the same boat, that is another reason why I am still contemplating about applying to Emory!

Isn’t Emory just as expensive?

Pretty much, and then it's only a Master's. At least USA you can get a DNP for like half the price basically.

Have you heard anything about USA or UAB?
I joined a NNP group on facebook and thought about asking

I haven't really heard much, not aside from what I read online from their websites or on the forums here. I know a few of the NNPs in my unit have gone to either program, that's really about it. Let me know if you do ask on the facebook!

What did they think about it?

I applied for the BSN to DNP dual FNP/ENP program for Fall 2021. I don't think we will be hearing from AdComs about our application until 8-10 weeks after the February 2021 deadline.

The cost is highly attractive.
