University of San Francisco Summer 2014 MSN CNL for non-nurses

Published

Hello everyone,

This thread is for the University of San Francisco Masters in Clinical Nurse Leader Program for non-nurses (Summer 2014 cohort) I didn't see one so I decided to make one. Anyone else applying?

I got a letter yesterday saying I was wait listed as well...ahhh! :nailbiting:

Does anyone know the number of applicants this term and the total class size? Looking back on my notes, I have 250+ applicants and 40 accepted but wanted to know of this cohort specifically.

@jll89 Yea it's driving me crazy too. I would definitely attend if I am admitted. You? My back up is SMU but I will still apply to USF again before I apply to SMU.

For those who haven't received a call or letter or any sort of notification from USF yet..... did you submit your application just before it was due?

I pretty much submitted mine at the last possible minute. Just wondering if they're going through the applications based on the order they received them...

For those of you waitlisted... Are you going to forward your application to the possible Southern California cohort? I think I'm going to email USF today and ask for more information about it.

I submitted mine at the last minute as well, and I received my rejection on the 15th. So I don't know how they are organizing when they notify people, but I would keep hope if you still haven't heard anything :)

I submitted mines last minute and received a wait listed notification.

I submitted mine on Feb 3rd and received a waitlist notification on Friday.

Parents just called saying we got the letter in the mail today -- also waitlisted. :(

To those of you who have been accepted into the program would you mind posting your stats. What did you put into your personal statement/ write about? Do you have any work experience...if so how much? Volunteer work? I'm trying to get an understanding of the trend of students who have been admitted into the program to better my chances for next term. I didn't get in this term....totally bummed. Trying yo see what I can do to make myself look better on paper. Thanks a bunch!

I just called them this morning to ask about the waitlist stats. They wouldn't release how many people were on the list. I asked about cohort 17, and the admissions lady (the one who answers the phone? Not sure who exactly) said NONE were taken off the waitlist! But my friend in cohort 16 has at least 3 people who were taken from the waitlist. Given these stats, I've begun to lose hope that I'll get in.

@phillycakes - starting to lose hope I'll get in. Being admitted seems like a long shot now! I would definitely go if this were the only school I got into. But I'm really hoping on some others too...

Btw I submitted mine last minute also and received a waitlist letter dated April 17.

Hey Nicolekay. Don't be discouraged! Just use this experience to fuel you for your next application. I got my B.S. in Human Biology and my GPA is a 3.52, but I don't remember what my prereq GPA was. was I felt what set me apart was my passion for helping people, which was evident on my resume. I've volunteered everywhere, not just medical. I put a lot into my personal statement as well, pouring out qualities I believed a nurse should yield and how I have those characteristics. I also related meaningful experiences that have helped me choose the nursing route. I think experience definitely helps you with being a more competitive candidate. My letters of recommendation were also very strong. My professors wrote them, and they were in my nursing prereq classes.

I hope that helps!
