I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!
Congrats to everyone who has heard back recently, can't wait to meet everyone!!
I was also confused on housing website quite in regards to how to apply/rent a room. What I ended up doing was sending a message to the email contact on the bottom of the homepage - it basically just said that I was interested in what openings there were and if prices were correctly quoted online, and I left my phone number in case that would be an easier way to get in touch.
The man who I emailed called me and left a message saying he was going to be sending an email with the rooms with openings beginning in May and some information on each. He also asked me to email back with any questions and a list in order of the rooms I would be interested in renting, if any. After I did that he emailed a copy of the lease and asked me to fill it out, include check with the deposit, and mail it to him.
He's been super responsive and helpful, so it was easy and quick.

Hey everyone, congrats on getting accepted! I'm currently in the program and will graduate in May.Kristen
Hi Kristen-
congratulations on your impending graduation!!
I really want to move forward with my Rochester acceptance, but the cost of the program is pretty daunting. Do you feel like you've gotten your money's worth? My other possible option is SBU... not as exited about that one, but the instate cost is significantly less.
Thank you for any insight!
Hi, thanks! I can't wait to be done so I can start working :) The tuition cost is something I really struggled with, it's so much money! But you do get what you pay for, it's a great program and has a wonderful reputation all over the US. Personally I am glad that I made the decision to go to the U of R, even though I'll be paying loans back until I'm 60 :)
I don't know anything about SBU, but the NY school system is great as well. If you'd like to talk more about this, feel free to email me, [email protected], I can give you more info. I don't log on here often and might not see a response from you for awhile!
Hello fellow students! I also have been accepted for the Spring 2011 class too and I am working on my scholarship application today!
I'm glad someone else brought up the issue of cost... this is a major concern of mine with the program. Whenever I start to think about how much this is going to cost, I feel a little nauseous. I am sure it's worth it, and I've heard graduates from the program say as much. It's just that I am not thrilled with the prospect of graduating so heavily in debt, especially since I already still owe money from my first bachelor's degree.
At this point, I am going to cross my fingers for some scholarship money or other additional aid. However, sometimes I think I might be better off doing a traditional program at a state school... at least I could work part time to pay for some of my living expenses, and the cost would be much, much less. The problem there, of course, is that I won't hear from those schools until March!
I was wondering whether other people are paying primarily with loans, or if you are hoping to get some scholarship money, or whether parents or a spouse are help footing the tuition or living expense bills? As for me, I am doing it all on my own, which means loans for tuition and probably living expenses as well. I live with my boyfriend in Rochester, which helps somewhat with living expenses, but I plan on contributing to the household during school to be fair to him.
Looking forward to hearing what other people have to say!!!

I just emailed and they gave me a list of which rooms will be available May 15th, 2011. Only about 5 rooms were open for May move in.
