Hello!
I've been looking at allnurses to see if anyone had started a thread for the U of R January 2016 ABPNN program yet but I have not seen one. I figured I'd go ahead and begin. While they are still accepting applications until July 1st, I got everything in early and just had my interview this morning. I think it went well but I won't really know until they make their decision (the faculty member said I probably won't hear anything until mid-September). Anyone else applying for this cohort?
Most people try to live in the White Coat ghetto because it's so close to Strong and Hellen Wood Hall. Goller house is a good option but the waitlist for that place is insane, unless you can find someone who is currently living there and become their roomie.
Here's a couple of links that may help:
Anyone looking for housing: don't overlook the city outside of the u of r area. The south wedge/monroe ave area is still very close and a rather 'trendy' neighborhood. I'm right off of monroe and I could still walk or bike to the hospital if I needed to. The 19th ward is close and cheaper but the quality of the neighborhood really varies street by street. Make sure you really look in to the neighborhood that you are moving to. I'm a Rochester native and I absolutely love it but safety can be an issue in the city. Just my two cents. Congrats everyone!
