Nursing Students School Programs

Hello!

I've been looking at allnurses to see if anyone had started a thread for the U of R January 2016 ABPNN program yet but I have not seen one. I figured I'd go ahead and begin. While they are still accepting applications until July 1st, I got everything in early and just had my interview this morning. I think it went well but I won't really know until they make their decision (the faculty member said I probably won't hear anything until mid-September). Anyone else applying for this cohort?

Yes they are, if you want to send me an email at [email protected] we can discuss.

Hi jxn6742-do you know of anyone else that is selling his/her books?

Hi Ritz09 - I'm not sure of anyone else selling books. I would definitely consider asking on the thread for the last January cohort. I'm sure someone there is selling.

Hi Ritz09

You may want to check on FB as the girls started a private page there! :nurse:

I just graduated from the program and am looking to get rid of my books. I'll sell them for 5% less than used prices on Amazon, if you're interested.

Hey y'all,

I will be apart of the May 2016 cohort and was wondering if any of you know of specific housing that will available (individuals graduating or moving out). There's a good number of us coming from the west coast and me from out of state with, zero clue on housing haha.

I know y'all are extremely busy studying and such but it would be a HUGE help!

:)

Well done on being accepted! It depends what your requirements are. If you don't have a car then I would suggest you enquire about Goler House - it is within walking distance from the school and Strong. Other than that Craigslist has apartments etc to rent and share but select the area carefully. I came from London UK and did extensive research. I ended up taking an apartment about 8 miles away in Webster on a lake but I have a car. It is easy to get around if you have a car but public transport is not sufficient. Hope that helps! Let me know if there is any other info you need.

Thank you so much, I didn't get a notification that you responded. I am extremely nervous about making sure I select the right area, landlords etc. I probably won't be bringing a car because I'm sure it would need to be AWD or 4WD. I live out of state and that is not what we typically drive around here haha. I will definitely be in touch as I continue doing some research. Thank you for taking the time out to respond. Good grace on your studying!

Hello all! I came across this thread looking for any info on the ABPNN program. I still have prereqs to take before I even apply, but to those who got in (and by now are likely done), I was wondering what kind of GPA/background, etc. you had. I know it is very competitive, and I just wanted any idea of my chances. Thanks!

I am half way through this program. It is competitive but definitely not unattainable. Try and get good grades on the pre-requisites. They do look at applications holistically so things like volunteering experience etc would also count in your favour. It is an excellent program so try and get in! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the reply, mitchellci! If the program crazy intense? I would LOVE to go to the school just to be involved in any way with the Mayo (do you have any clinicals there?) but I am a little worried about the pace/intensity with a one year BSN. I have seen 16 or 18 months, but not one year. It will take me a year to do my prereqs at this point, but I need to do them for any other school, anyway. (though since they do not have a time limit I could possibly submit my anatomy and physiology from a few years ago...) Thanks again! I JUST decided to just go ahead and pursue my bsn or even entry level msn, so I have a lot to do before I even apply. I am currently a dental hygienist.
