Hello, is anyone applying to University of Pittsburgh's CRNA program for Spring 2025?

Specializes in MICU, STICU, CTICU, CCRN-CSC-CMC.

I will be applying! Arguably my top school, but now that Nursing CAS has exposed my science GPA I am skeptical. I'm going to try and do 1-2 undergraduate science classes to give myself a boost.

Hi! Thank you for your response. Your experience and credentials are outstanding! How long have you been in the ICU?

Thanks! I worked MICU/STICU (floated between the two) for 1 year and 3 months, got my CCRN & TNCC there. Then I went to CTICU and have been there for over a year. It'll be 2.5 years in CTICU if I get in for the May program. While I was there, I got my CSC & CMC. For a whopping total of almost 4 years.

That's amazing!! I just submitted my application this weekend. Hoping we both get in!

I hope so too! Though, like I said my sGPA was pretty surprising when I entered it into Nursing CAS so, I am going to apply when I finish an undergraduate Chemistry class to boost it over 3.0. I have no doubt you will get an interview though! Hopefully we can both get in, then the work starts!

Does nursingCAS show your GPA for you? I don't remember seeing mine. You're so right, we got this.

Yeah, so once you apply you can download the application once it is verified and see your GPA calculations. So, I applied earlier this year to a program and my sGPA was only taken from 3 classes and mine was 2.67! So, I know each program does their own calculation, but I felt I was closer to 3.3. So, I'm a little worried they may see it as the lower calculation, regardless of the limited classes pulled.

Hi there! During the past interview session I had similar questions about the GPA on NursingCAS and I wasn't sure if I wanted to submit my application. I submitted my application, interviewed and got in .

This is what I was told by a current student ****Pitt uses your BSN GPA in a sense - that is, they use the GPA printed on the transcript which conferred your BSN. While they do use NursingCAS, they use it more as an application tool to stream line things rather than relying on it for other admissions functions. They do not utilize the transcript feature on NursingCAS nor do they utilize GPAs calculated from NursingCAS. After submission, you will see some GPAs calculated by NursingCAS, but they are not used or considered.

Pitt takes a very human and holistic approach with their entire selection process. This GPA requirement is meant to be a more inclusive factor because it really is just takes into account the nursing courses and affiliated sciences as opposed to every class you ever took.

Feel free to reach if you have any other questions!

Hi Daysnight! I was just reading the forum from last year, thank you for the clarification and congratulations on your acceptance! How have the past months been since being accepted? Do they correspond past the acceptance before your first semester? When they chose people for part-time, is this a student choice or the school's decision? Why would one be part-time? Also, could you recommend some examples of interview questions? Thank you!

It's the school's choice on who they choose on the part-time basis. Part-time  usually only means that you will be starting full-time the subsequent year which for your cohort will be (2026).

So after the acceptance, the school sent us an email on clearance we need to get before school and we also had a zoom townhall meeting to go over expectations for research as well as to answer any questions we may have. They also communicated our orientation date and class schedules. Good luck with the process, there is a lot of waiting in between but it's definitely worth it. Just do your best to apply early .

I applied! Wondering if anyone has heard about interviews? Or do they start after the deadline?
