University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard anything but they did send out an e-mail today basically confirming the rumors that SDSU will most likely be offering an online accelerated BSN in both San Diego AND Glendale. They also said that Marian University in Indianapolis has an online BSN and a representative will be arriving here soon and will offer relocation scholarships in the amount of $4,000 for students interested in moving to Indianapolis for the program. At least there seem to be more options now for students who will not be accepted or for students who are not done with prereqs yet :).

Thanks for the information Sun. I anxiously was awaiting some sort of news. Do you think it would be In State Tuition if San Diego was taking over? And did you get any confirmation of the prereqs? Just curious if they will change the needed prerequisites. I called and no one was answering the phone lines, it was met with a recording that told me to leave a message on their toll free line. So many questions... so scared.

It is nice that they have been seeking alternatives for those of us not accepted or waiting for another term. I really am hoping to be accepted into the Spring 2010 cohort, but if not I look forward to seeing what SDSU has to offer. The letter also implied that decisions will be made the week of Nov 16th!

I can't wait to find out!

From what I heard the committee meets on Monday! Letters will be mailed out the 3rd and 4th week of this month!

I called someone from OU to ask a question and no reply...emailed advisor here in SD and no reply...must be busy get things together!

You never know getting in could be a good or bad thing because what if SDSU program is better. They do not know about pre-reqs but will probably know end of this month.

A newbie here peeps and I love this site :loveya: So anxious and nervous but I doubt I will be getting into Spring 2010 since I just finished taking 2 non-science pre-reqs through Barstow. I am happy that OU is working hard and helping us future students look into more options. I cannot wait to see the list for the SDSU pre-reqs and I am hoping that their process is similar to OU and not like CSU San Marcos. I am getting tired of taking pre-reqs already and just want to get my hands dirty! Here's me hoping the best for everyone:redpinkhe

Hi SoCal,

The e-mail did not say if the prereq requirements will be similar or not. The only other thing it said is that SDSU will probably operate the program out of the same facility that is currently being used. It also said another e-mail will be sent out asap as soon as they know more info and I can post that too once I receive it.

Hi there,

I was just wondering if it was a mass email that is send out all applicants about the SDSU program? I haven't got any email about SDSU program and was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? Thanks.

karree2000,

I am assuming that the email was sent to all Spring 2010 applicants. The SDSU program is still in the works and the email stated that students will be contacted as soon they know more information on it. Hope this helps.

Just an update. I emailed the site director at San Diego today and she replied that the committee met today and that letters should be mailed out by next Wednesday. So hopefully we will find out by late next week!

My heart is racing...

The acceptance letters are going out next Wednesday? I can't stand the agonying of waiting. My fingers and toes are crossed! Did anyone hear how many they accepted?

Hello everyone -

I am a recent graduate of this program (October 31, 2009 was my LAST class!!! :yeah:) and our graduation will be on Dec. 14th. I can only say I am so grateful to have finished the first time and am so thankful to have my life back! However, at the same time I am very proud and excited for the education that I have received and although I am nervous for the upcoming NCLEX exam, I feel I have been well prepared. The program (in my opinion) has its fair share of frustrations (many!), but in the end, it's 14 months and it's a BSN.

I know everyone seems perplexed as to the future of this program, so I can offer what they told us in a letter sent out in October 09. "Budget constraints" and "economic pressures for public and private organizations" are the cause of the phase out of this program. The last cohort of students will be admitted Spring of 2010.

Whoever is lucky enough to be admitted, be proud and keep your nose to the grindstone. The time flies so quickly and you will be amazed at what you will learn.

Lisa

I am so excited for this weekend if anyone gets a letter let us know!
