University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was a little bit undecided about the book package too, but after doing some research and going through the tutorial website I think I'm sold. The main reason why I like the electronic version is that you can copy and paste directly from the text onto word to make your own little study guide! This would save so much time!! Plus, you'd only be saving about $300 if you bought elsewhere, but you won't get the electronic version. Although $300 is a lot, the time efficiency of being able to make notes without retyping from the text is priceless-in my opinion. I might reconsider, if say I would save more than 50% buying from amazon, but I think the package is reasonably priced. Plus you don't have to worry about getting a used book that doesn't have a CD-ROM that you might need for class.

Kitty,

I'm interested in the other CD-ROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody!

Well, I haven't heard back from OU...so, I'm, definitely, attending the orientation.

Couldn't find a red ribbon, so I made a little red heart that I will pin to my shirt.

I'll be wearing pink/lavender plaid shorts and with a white polo shirt. The collar on the shirt matches the plaid shorts. I have short, dark brown hair. I'll probably be one of the oldest students there! You'll be able to recognize the tiredness in my eyes...stayed up most of last night studying for a Micro exam today.

See you all in a few hours!

hey everyone! well open house was fun, haha. we have so much stuff to do before we start! Does anyone know when we are supposed to pick up our scrubs, lab coat, polo, name badge, and etc. from ace uniforms?? It totally slipped my mind and I didn't ask them  We didn't get them today right?? I didn't see any one take any uniforms or supplies home today except for the stethoscope. Let me know!

p.s. lauralee PM me and we'll figure something out when I get my book package.

That was fun, and OVERWHELMING, hahaha.

Sorry I didn't chat with all of you, my table got called up and then by the time I was done with all the uniform/badge/book stuff, I was dying of hunger. I chatted with a few of you though, very cool to meet you guys finally. :)

We should try again on orientation day. - which btw, is when I think we're supposed to get all that stuff... but who knows, that was a lot of information.

Did anyone else get the feeling that they were trying to scare some people away? haha. Who the heck decides to go to nursing school thinking they wouldn't touch anyone??? wow...

Hi! I think I only met Amarra (I'm the Jennifer in Carlsbad we talked about carpooling). Looking forward to meeting the rest of you!

We pick up our Ace uniform stuff at orientation. Has anyone else NOT received their financial aid offer letter yet?

Hi All!

Okay....I've finally got everything worked out re: school.

I have been deferred to Spring! Woohoo! Let's keep in touch over Fall.

Congrats and good luck to everybody enrolling next month! If you survive organizing everything you need to get done before 8/25 can then get through the first month of class/clinical, everything will settle down and you'll be in the groove.

Oh that's great that everything worked out. AND now you know what to expect to have done before orientation for the spring. :). And not rush like us. Haha.

hey everyone! i'm sure everyone is busy trying to get immunizations, certification, and etc...due to the lack of posting. :) Luckily, I have all my immunizations done and just need to get CPR certified. My CPR class is on Aug 9this Saturday at Sharp corporate offices, will anyone be there?

Anyways, did anyone buy this book:

Field, M.J. & Jette, A. M. (2007). Committee on disability in america: the Future of disability in america. (1st ed.). Washington D. C.: The National Academies Press. (ISBN 10: 030910472)

I wrote down that we didn't need to buy this if we are taking this class in the winter intersession (which we are) according to Kathy Cooper (She said this at Open House). Also on our book list it says its required, but to check course syllabus. So I'm just wondering if I should buy it just in case.

Another thing, unfortunately I will not be able to go to orientation :crying2: I really wish I could because I would like to meet all my future classmates, but I'm leaving for a trip that was planned way back in March before I knew anything about the program and it is toooo expensive to change my plans now. Soo...if you all see a guy that is filming the orientation, that is my boyfriend :loveya: I'm so lucky that he's doing this for me, so I don't miss any important info. Its the only alternative I have, haha. but just in case he does, can someone take good notes and fill me in?

Thanks everyone, and hopefully I'll get to meet all of you when school starts!

Hi Everyone ~

Does anyone know what we're supposed to wear and what we're supposed to bring on Monday the 25th? I feel like they left out a lot of info regarding the first week at orientation....anyone else feel this way?

Thanks!

Hi,

For our cohort we are supposed to wear any solid-colored scrubs whenever we are on campus. I am pretty sure they will make you do the same. We received an email just before we started reminding us what to wear, etc.

Good luck, enjoy your last week of relaxation! :D

Good question... I know we have to wear the scrubs when we're there, but do we have to wear them during those first two weeks? Did you send an email to Kennessa?
