University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi wannabe- while on the subject of grades, how difficult is it to get an A in this program? If known, what is the approximate curve in terms of grades in your current cohort... Just want to get a real ideaof how difficult it is to pass these courses.

With the adjusted grade scale it is more difficult. A 93 and above is an A which means a 92 is a B. I have no idea how many people got As, etc because there is no curve but many people are getting As and Bs. The difficult courses are in 2nd semester, Pharmacology etc.

thanks

Yes I did mean GPA for prereq sorry I didnt specify

Dooes anyone know if we are supposed to buy a stethescope? I don't exactly know what is in the lab bag that we bought, and i don't recall a list of items that we need to buy other than books.....

The lab bag just has items to use in lab. For clinical you will need a stethescope (Littman is the best), a penlight, a pocket-sized notebook to take notes at clinical. Some instructors will inform you of what you need, for instance one instructor wanted us to have Kelly forceps where as others did not require this. The first meeting with you clinical instructor will be an orientation so they will most likely go over what you will need in their clinical on that day.

Holy crud! Did everyone receive that e-mail with all of the clinical stuff we have to read and sign off on?

Yep. I just went through it all. It wasn't as bad as it looked! I'm not sure what to do with the Student Orientation Checklist though. I e-mailed one of the professors to see if that is something we hang on to until our clinical orientation or if we turn that in with everything else.

I don't know about all of you but I'm getting so excited. I can't believe we start in a week! What clinical group is everyone in? I'm in 4!

Me too!!! Although they did say that that (among other things) is subject to change. I like our scheduled hours though... I hope I stay there!

I wonder when we will get our actual clinical schedules. They made it sound like it was almost finalized at orientation last week. Hopefully soon! I also like the scheduled times for our group so far... I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for an afternoon/evening clinical. We'll see!

Specializes in ED.

Are there any 2nd semester students that know when we get our info?? I called the mailbox was full. No one in my clinical group heard anything either.

Like, we have no idea when our clinical lab day is... shouldn't we know that by now? The last thing I heard (during the ATI testing) was that the schedule was still being "finalized"... but isn't that always the case, haha.

Thanks!!

No one has their schedule yet. We are all eagerly checking our emails! I am hoping we hear today!

You guys have given me a good idea. I'm going to approach this semester (2nd) with the serenity prayer that they say in AA. "Give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference"!

In other words, I'm not surprised at all that we haven't gotten our schedules. The only thing I've heard is that there is another orientation. I'm going to go meditate now.:zzzzz

I went to it last night (orientation) Promising but not promising. Looks like they are relying heavily on the GPA and to make sure our pre req. are really defined by OU standards versus CA and they told us that the tuition will go up after this summer!! They said that most likely we will move to Memorial or in that area be all on one floor and that they'll contact us if we pass the unofficial transcript phase enough to apply for the next application deadline. If not it seems they would like for us to repeat classes if that is what it takes to raise GPA. They only touched heavily on pre reqs and no I did not hear anything about any of you already in the program who will be affected by all the changes they are to make in the next few months. I was hoping their would be a student available to ask questions but none in site last nite. But I'm excited now I just have to wait till monday at the lasted for them to let us know where we stand. I wish I could remember her name that gave the presentation.
