University of Oklahoma ABSN 2017

Published

Hey! I haven't seen a post for this yet, but is anyone out there applying to OU's ABSN program for 2017 matriculation?

Hopefully it will not take them long this year. I remember last year they sent out emails in the middle of November.

I am getting more and more anxious about receiving an email! I would just really like a yes or no so I can move on with my life. :) Anyone else feeling anxious?

Not as anxious as last year since I have a back up plan. But I still check my app status at least once a week. Crossing my fingers for all us. :)

Yes, Brandi! My anxiety increases everyday lol. I, too, would like to find out so I can move on with my life. Here's to hopefully less than one month before decisions are released!

Brandi, me too! I had forced myself to forget for a little while, but thought about it again the other day. I like want to count down, but can't because we aren't even sure of that actual date haha. I feel like I go back and forth day to day being hopeful/optimistic to thinking there is no way they'll except because of how great everybody is. Just keeping my fingers crossed. I just want us all to get in ha

I am getting a little nervous now. Hopefully decisions come out next week.

Has anyone emailed the admissions counselor recently?

Hello,

I applied on the deadline and FINALLY finished my prereqs. I think everything is done except a decision. Hopefully we'll hear something in a week or so. I'll keep you all updated as soon as I get notified. (fingers crossed)

If I don't get accepted to the ABSN do you think I should even bother applying to the traditional? I really don't know if I'll get accepted since I don't have my pre reqs finished, but I'm hoping for the waitlist at least.

Haley I asked that same question last year and this what they told me:

"One important difference between the ABSN and the Traditional BSN as far as application criteria is that for the Traditional BSN the Admissions Committee is looking at your overall cumulative GPA, rather than your 'Last 60 credit hours GPA'. So, this may be one consideration. Another thing the committee looks at is if you are complete or almost complete with prerequisites by the Jan 15 app deadline...if not, then how many prereqs are outstanding - both sciences and non-sciences.

One important factor is what your science GPA is for the sciences you have completed - if it's strong then you may still be competitive. Final consideration is where you've taken the majority of prerequisites, including the sciences - if at a research level institution this will be an advantage."

@beejay91, thank you for the advice! I appreciate it. So do we think we're going to find out end of this week...or not until next week?

I creeped on the OU ABSN thread from last year and they got their emails on November 16, which was the Monday of the week before Thanksgiving - which is today. But... still no email here.

As a quasi-intro, I'm not expecting to get in this year - missing too many pre-reqs. I have a BA and a JD and am looking to switch things up career-wise. I was going to wait until next year to apply at all but I hate playing the what if game so I went ahead and submitted early. Good luck to all though!

Hey Everyone,

I applied just in time for OKC and Duncan (2). I have around a 3.5 last 60 and a 4 in sciences, however I am finishing Physio right now. So, I guess we'll see how big of a deal that is. I'm also looking at the OCCC accelerated. Has anyone worked out the cost difference in doing OU vs. OCCC and finishing up at a 4 year for BSN?

Good Luck All!!!
