University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

uofmhopeful -

I just want to mention that my comment about UM showing preference to people who have been out of school for a while may no longer be the case. I was just on the UM 2nd degree website and it doesn't say that anymore. I looked and they just updated the page in December so perhaps that isn't an issue now for those of you who are still working on completing your degree. :)

UofM hopeful,

I would focus on your degree. If you only have one class, you can take it in the summer. Many people who are accepted take classes till almost starting the program. The liklihood of getting accepted off the waitlist is low..sorry. I would suggest people look look into U of D, Wayne, Oakland and Eastern which have much better odds. Plus, these programs have been running accelerated programs a lot longer than U of M - so I would go there first. Bottom line - it really doesn't matter where you go because when it comes to getting a job, etc. it won't play a big role.

I still haven't heard anything, yet. I'm hoping that no news is good news.

Did the folks who got waitlisted receive an email or letter or did you just happen to log-into the website and find that information?

I wonder if anyone's been accepted or rejected, yet. It's weird that they would add folks to the waitlist before admitting or declining any of the applicants.

I got an e-mail on Christmas eve and also logged in and saw it after that as they asked if I would accept being on wait-list. I also got a letter after that.

I am thinking it is good news if you have not heard! Good luck to you all---I am headed to U of D Mercy in May!

I have heard of one acceptance for a friend of a friend. and I know of someone else who applied in October who was notified a few days ago of being waitlisted. I must say... I'm really excited for next semester to start because this break is giving me too much time to think about this! It's torture! lol

Thank you everyone for your input. I was actually accepted to U of D, but I deferred my admission until January 2011 because I wanted to see what other options are. I am having a hard time deciding what to do because I may actually go to a small school in Irvine, California...and frankly getting out of Michigan sounds great to me!

As for being waitlisted, I received an email and then a letter in the mail. I am also waiting on MSU's reply. I wish everyone would just hurry up so I know for sure where I'm going!

This waiting game is killing me!

Hi. I'm waiting to hear from U of M.... I think I'll be waiting a loong time, though. I just finished applying like two days ago. I didn't really realize the whole "rolling admissions" thing until too late. Does anybody know about their class size/acceptance rate? Do they give preference to people from MI?

Sarabear-- Oh boy, we really did apply to a lot of the same schools!

ACCEPTED!! Got the letter today, will start in August!!!! :)
