University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Hi KellyZ,

I was also waitlisted and haven't heard a word. I heard from a friend a waitlisted person did get a call about starting the fall.

U of M does not start till Sept. not Aug. I am still waiting on the wait list as well. I was told we could hear right up till classes start.

I have friends in the program, they start in August.....not with classes....but with basic CNA type training....every other day or something for two weeks before classes start. They do start around August 17th....it's not on their website and people did not know this until they were admitted.

I found the letter that my friend showed me, they begin the term August 17th with 3 weeks of skills labs before semester classes start in Sept.

I wonder if every body has to do that. I have my CNA and have been working as a CNA for a few years.

Yeah they do...it's considered a class and the first part of the program. I believe it's mandatory....so we really only have 3 weeks left to get a call off the wait list.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Good luck to all the fellow waitlist people.

Anyone been accepted into the program off the waitlist? If so how have you been contacted?

Yes, a friend of mine was. She was notified by phone in May.

Good luck

All, U of M is telling me they will send out decisions within 6 - 8 weeks for Fall 2010. MSU told me 7-9 weeks so I am hoping this is correct. I don't think it serves applicants well to wait many months. Based on what I am hearing about the past slow response for decisions(4-5 months), I feel this is highly unlikely...true?? Also, for those that got in, what is the typical GPA if you don't mind me asking?? I am at 3.53 nurse pre-req but after next term, I am hoping to be boost it some more. I still feel its a little low. Good luck to anyone on the wait list or applying for next year.

I received my acceptance letter from UofM for the accelerated program the end of January. I submitted my application August 14th. I received my acceptance letter from MSU for there accelerated program the end if November (Thanksgiving time). I submitted my application to them by October 1st. My GPA was a 3.4. Just looking at my prerequisites for both schools it was higher between a 3.5 and a 4.0 somewhere. Good luck!

I am talking about the waitlist for applicants for fall 2009. If you are an applicant for fall 2010, it takes months to hear from UofM.
