I've recently been accepted to UM Flint's AGNP DNP program which will begin in September 2014. Just wondering if there are any others out there or anyone who is currently enrolled/graduated from the program that can provide any insight on how the program operates. GO BLUE!

Hi,
I have been accepted into their DNP psych program and I am trying to decide if I really want to go here or another school I have been accepted to. They have a few courses that are extra compared to the other schools and the cost of tuition is higher. I am weighing my options. Haven't heard much about others experience here. I hope it has been great though.

What school did you end up selecting for psych and would you recommend it? :-)

So, did you choose UM-Flint? How is the DNP program?

This is late, but for people considering applying to UM-Flint now...I really like the program. The professors are quick to respond and want to make sure you understand the material. I've only had one class that has been frustrating due to vague instructions, but I'm still getting an A. Overall I'd recommend it to others, however, I'm just finishing my first year so I don't have any experience with clinicals yet. I had to move out of state so setting up clinicals for next semester has been a nightmare, but if you're in MI or another state with lots of affiliations I imagine it would be fairly easy.
Well for my own sake of mind, I hope that one class wasn't pharmacology...
MikeRN84, no, that one class is a research course. Pharm has been a lot of work but pretty straightforward!
Whew! That's such a load off my mind! I don't mind hard work, but I have some severe anxiety regarding pharm so that really helped me hearing that. I've noticed most of the undergrad professors are great there, and I'm glad it's no different for the DNP.

My goal is to be an NP in the ER and the hospital where I work requires dual FNP/ACNP certification. I'm looking at getting the DNP FNP with UM Flint and then get the post-graduate certificate in ACNP, which is a new certification program they're offering in 2017. From what I gather, it is basically finishing all the ACNP didactic & clinical coursework that you don't do in FNP, which allows you to sit for the certification exam in Acute Care.
Anyone with experience in the DNP ACNP have feedback on the program? DNP FNP? How did you like it? Were you able to work & still complete coursework in the program? I'm graduating with my BSN in December and will apply for admission to the Fall 2017 DNP FNP program.
