University of Miami Summer 2021 ABSN

Hey guys! I know it's early but I thought I would start this. Has anyone applied to this program yet?

Oh okay perfect, I found out. It says complete. I also got the application under review email on January 13th.

OK that's great.....so that means you should be hearing from admissions really soon.  They must be busy with applications and the new semester.

How long did it take you guys to receive your canelink after you received the email of your app being received?

Hi Antho, mine took 7 days from to get the canelink email. I received the "app received" email on Nov 23 and the cane link email on Dec 1.

Hi queenrus!

Thank you for answering so quickly! IDK if this is answering directly to your post. I got the cane link today (3 days after I submitted). Kind of scary but hopefully will have good news soon!

Hi Antho! That's a quick turnaround for the canelink. The Summer session starts May 17 so I am hoping that admissions are working through the rest of the applications quickly.

By the way, do you have any prereqs outstanding? I have a crazy amount:

- Chem with lab

- Anatomy & Physiology 2 with lab

- Microbiology

-Lab portion of AP 1

I am taking all of these courses right now....studying every day.

I wish you the very best with your admissions decision......keeping fingers crossed for you.

That’s a lot of pre-reqs!  Queenrus, if you don’t mind, what is your GPA? I’m currently taking Micro and A&P 2 with lab.

Hi CPD! I don't mind at all....GPA is 3.83....and the pre req GPA is 4.0 (Stats, Nutrition, Growth & Development, AP1 (without the lab).

By the way, have you heard anything as yet about your app? Is it still being reviewed?

yeah....I am dying with doing so many pre reqs...I am doing coursework like everyday.

It’s still being reviewed. I was told that it’s being reviewed this month so I’m hoping I get notified next week or the week after ?

Girl me too, I’m praying ??. For me, nursing is a career change. I’m pursuing a dream I wanted to pursue years ago. Working with patients was the greatest joy I’ve received in my career. UM is across the street from me and my husband is an oncology nurse there (same specialty I want to pursue).  It would be a blessing to be there ? 

Also, you’ve got this with the pre-reqs! You sound like a smart cookie - I hope we are able to meet in the cohort ?

It's a career change for me too....I am so very interested in oncology as well....it's probably one of the most interesting, impactful, and mysterious areas.

That's amazing that UM is across the street from you. I used to live on Brickell years ago and loved it but I am all the way in Boca now. My husband and I thought about moving to the UM area for about 2 years just so that I can be close to school....but I don't think it's going to work out. It's relatively expensive to live near UM....I am going to have to commute.

So what's the plan after you receive your BSN? I am hoping to go to NP school after but who knows.
