After receiving the notification letter to make $500.00 deposit (arriving within a month), you will have two weeks to pay.:uhoh3:

First off, congratulations to everyone that's already been accepted!

I was accepted into the program about 2 weeks ago as well. I had originally applied for the summer entrance, but the advisor convinced me to change to Spring, so I did. Hopefully someone will be able to start a group on Facebook, that way we can all get to know each other a little better - at least enough to be able to spot each other at orientation!

I done my prereqs last year at MDC too...which campus?

Groovy, most of my prereqs were at Kendall, with exceptions at Wolfson and Interamerican.

Do you mean that you will be working while you are in school? I was told that the classes are really intensive and between studying and clinical rotations we would not have time to keep a full or part time job.

I do not have any plans of working. However, it will be important to work on getting a job, as well as exploring future options. UM is a nationally known school, and I anticipate that will come especially handy if for example I become interested in a masters. What will be the best fit long-term- anesthesia (sp?), nurse practiotioning, administrative...? I have an idea but would like to take a closer look at these.

I have my 11 year old son with me so I am not sure having roommates would be convenient, plus I will have to find a school for him to attend. Also, I would need two bedrooms.

P.S. I am not sure if we can publish our e-mail address but you message me here and I will give it to you. :D

Hey Anelite sorry for the late response,

The website won't let me message you on here yet because I haven't met the response requirement.... or something along those lines. Anyways I understand your reasoning for having roommates and I respect that. I hope that you all are able to relocate easily and that it goes smoothly for your child as well.

Anelite 2014 and Anne 1234,

Tell me about it, I feel like a tornado has hit since I accepted the enrollment for Spring! I am guess this year is going to be very stressful but all very worth while.

Anne1234, I am still hoping somebody will make a Facebook page as I do not want to be the admin and it would be easier to message one another. I am not sure if you can post email addresses on here, let me know what they say. I am most nervous about the moving process and finding a decent and affordable price, so we should def keep in touch.

Hey LSYM2012,

I'm right there with you on the moving process. I feel like it's a shot in the dark. I have been looking places up near school and my problem is I can mapquest something but I don't really know what the traffic or travel time will be like. Nor do I know what is considered a good or bad area. Oh and don't get me started on the rent..... crazy crazy prices.

When you changed to spring, was it guaranteed? Did you have to submit something in writing? Also, did you pay the admissions deposit when you were first accepted?

Hey Starvilla048,

Thank you for the information I had no idea that they had to have the money so quickly, I was hoping I at least had until November 10th.... but oh well I guess I better get on that.

Thanks, Al Lima! I want to be close to campus because I won't have a car and want to be able to wake up and go right to the library most days, haha. I saw U of Miami has certain apartments listed but do you know of any others that are around campus and not too pricey?

Hi, I read the list that Anelite forwarded and I was not surprised by the listings. I factored budget and your transportation (w/o car) goals, and it seemed that the best bet is Dadeland near the metro. FYI, public transportation in Miami is most developed from downtown to Dadeland in a north/south fashion (UM is in between). I saw cheaper listings but these were in more western locations where having a car is recommended.

Areas not surprised by high prices: Collins, Brickell, Coral Gables, parts of South Beach, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne - avg households are high in these areas. Dadeland is more of a mix.

Hey DST1913,

Thank you so much for working on creating us a facebook to be able to connect with one another. I received an email from all nurses that they don't want us posting identifyable information so I'm not sure if we can leave our facebook names on this message board. Is there a way to set it up without adding friends off the bat, but instead maybe we can search it by whatever title you come up with? Not sure if it's possible or not, I'm not super computer savy.
