University of Miami Accelerated BSN-2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi ALL,

I wanted to start this thread for all those who applied and are interested in applying for UM's accelerated BSN next spring (Jan 2013)!!

Has any one applied or been accepted yet?

Please reply

Yea... I would prefer a Facebook page too...

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations on your acceptance!! I also got my acceptance letter on Friday...How exciting?

I did not apply to scholarship, but i am looking to apply to FAFSA.

What i dont understand is : Once you have a Bachelor degree and got Financial Aid for that degree , Financial Aid wont give you any more money for your second degree?

How are you guys doing your FAFSA?

Also is there anybody here who had a deferred application from last semester? I really want to start in May but i ll have to go through the readmission process, and they dont guarantee my acceptance. So i dont know what to do ? If you guys experienced that before or know people who went through this..please share !!

who knows when classes start in janurary?

Hello Johanna06,

I would touch base with Financial Aid regarding loans. It seems counterintuiative that a prospective student would be denied loans, especially if they have been current with past school related debt.

Regarding start date, the school doesn't develop a set date in advance. However, I was told in August (approximately) to expect classes to start around mid-January. Hope this helps.

Hi, isn't there supposed to be a link in the UM portal

where incoming students can communicate? Would fell better about using this than Facebook.

Hi dk22, how long is the commute from your one bedroom in North Miami to campus? I am in the process of looking for a place. Thanks in advance :)

I think the UM academic calendar states Spring classes start Jan 14th. I am not sure if that applied to our program. hope this helps

EF262,

I lived in North Miami Beach and commuted towards UM and it would take me between 30-45 minutes, that depended on what time I left, any accidents and of course if it rained it would take a lot longer. I must warn you I drive slow

Congratulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D Well, I called my current school and I only have 19,000 left from my federal loan after I graduate this year with a bachelors degree. I contacted FAFSA and added UM to my loan because this is my last semester, and the loan went into the year 2013. FAFSA said that UM will be contacting me soon to let me know how much more money I will need. They also sent me a confirmation e-mail stating there was a correction made on my loan application. Then I contact Sallie Mae and they said that they would provide me the rest of the money to cover my tuition, books, and living expenses.

He told me to call back after I talk with UM and have a budget ready. I also turned in an Application for the Accelerated BSN Scholarship Program. This scholarship pays for the entire program but then you are contracted to work for their hospital for 3 years. They will begin contacting people in November for interviews in December. I also applied for scholarships that were provided on the UM website. Hopefully, I will have enough because I am in the same boat as you....

I was told January 14th

I sent you a message, I spoke with Jean and he was very helpful and said I would have no problem finding a 2/1 for 1200.00 in a good neighborhood... THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

He would like you to call him so he can thank you for the referral.

I only have 19,000 left from my bachelors degree and I plan on getting an additional loan from Sallie Mae... I just need to figure out a budget...
