University of Miami Accelerated BSN-2013

Published

Hi ALL,

I wanted to start this thread for all those who applied and are interested in applying for UM's Accelerated BSN next spring (Jan 2013)!!

Has any one applied or been accepted yet?

Please reply

Congratulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D Well, I called my current school and I only have 19,000 left from my federal loan after I graduate this year with a bachelors degree. I contacted FAFSA and added UM to my loan because this is my last semester, and the loan went into the year 2013. FAFSA said that UM will be contacting me soon to let me know how much more money I will need. They also sent me a confirmation e-mail stating there was a correction made on my loan application. Then I contact Sallie Mae and they said that they would provide me the rest of the money to cover my tuition, books, and living expenses. He told me to call back after I talk with UM and have a budget ready. I also turned in an Application for the Accelerated BSN Scholarship Program. This scholarship pays for the entire program but then you are contracted to work for their hospital for 3 years. They will begin contacting people in November for interviews in December. I also applied for scholarships that were provided on the UM website. Hopefully, I will have enough because I am in the same boat as you....
Hi! I emailed financial aid with my UM ID# and they told me how much they would give me. They said officially I'd get a notice late November so if you need an idea of how much you'll be rewarded I would contact them too.hope it helps!

Are you saying they will help you get a loan?
Hi dk22, how long is the commute from your one bedroom in North Miami to campus? I am in the process of looking for a place. Thanks in advance :)

About 30 minutes

I sent you a message, I spoke with Jean and he was very helpful and said I would have no problem finding a 2/1 for 1200.00 in a good neighborhood... THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

He would like you to call him so he can thank you for the referral.

Thats great!

I will call him...thanks!

Are you saying they will help you get a loan?
They will tell you how much financial aid you will receive from filing your fafsa. It might help knowing this when determining the amount you will need when applying for a personal loan.

I meant private loan sorry

Thats great!

I will call him...thanks!

You're welcome...

I meant private loan sorry

Yea, I just contacted the financial aid office and this what he said:

"You will be eligible for $2,750 in a Subsidized Stafford Loan and $3,500 in an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan per semester. You can also apply for a private loan with a private lender or the monthly payment plan. We will contact you with your loan eligibility late November and you can then apply for the private loan. The tuition price is divided by 3 semesters."

Does anyone know if this is still the current plan of study? And are we allowed to rearrange it? I have no plans on doing that but I was just wondering. :specs:

Great question! I was thinking the same thing. But from looking at the plan of study on the website most of the courses in the beginning are building blocks for the next term so I think they have it set up for us. I guess we will find out during orientation!

Also, I am currently looking for female roommates if anyone is interested! :)

Find me on FB and msg me : Sandy Salia

Other than the $300 acceptance fee have you guys submitted any other payments?

No, but I saw an earlier post that said we will have to submit about 150.00 for background check and fingerprints. They will notify us by our UM email. I do not think there is anything else is due. After the background check we have to prepare to purchase our uniforms and make sure that our laptops have to correct specifications or we will have to purchase a new one.
