Hello :)
I am kind of early with this thread, but I am pretty excited about the possibility of starting nursing school in May! Anybody else out there considering UM's ABSN program for summer 15? Also, anybody that has gotten in the program if you don't mind sharing helpful information, please do! I will still have 3 outstanding pre-reqs that I am registered to take in Spring. My cum GPA & pre-req GPA without those last 3 classes will be a 3.3 for both. I think I have a fair chance, could be better! (and will be once I finish pre-reqs) But anyway, share your thoughts about this program if you are considering as well! & good luck :)
I moved to Miami to be with my boyfriend like six months ago, so I can relate. Before, I was in Tampa for several years for my first degree. But, I'm originally a northerner too, but from the Northern Virginia D.C area. I hope you love it down here! It's definitely different than up north!
Ah! I love it there already! My boyfriend and I both went to school in PA (where we met!) He moved to Miami almost 2 years ago to work for the Dolphins! I have been visiting him pretty often ever since and I never want to leave! I have a friend who just moved to the Northern Virginia/ DC area (Alexandria I believe). I can't wait to move my butt down there and be with him and enjoy the sunny weather while going to UM! I hope that we all get in, everyone seems so nice on here! Best of luck. P.S. I have family near Tampa, too!
i'll definitely like Miami since i live in sunny LA right now!@risser. do you know anyone who did the ABSN program at GWU? i know this is miami thread...
Nope I don't know anyone from GWU in the nursing programs, but I know GWU is a really competitive and pricey school in general. Had friends in other degrees there, but they loved it! Sorry couldn't be of more help!
@Mandaaleiigh Very cool! I used to live near Alexandria (5 mins away) so know all about it! It's good to get away from the snow up north and on top of that be able to get closer to your boyfriend again! I hope we all get in too!
So I'm just waiting on my transcript to go through as well as my letter of rec. Nervous of course! Does anyone know around when we should hear back? I've applied to a few schools around the state (coming from UF) and I would really like to know if and where I'll be moving! haha Where else did y'all apply?

when did you start your application ? Have you submitted your application ? I called today and was told that there looking at application as they come. So its basically a rolling admission process

So I started my app at the start of this month (last min I know!) and I'm just waiting on my transcript to process. My office told me it would take 5 business days. And my prof that's writing my letter said he'd get on it on Monday as he has a lot to do as well. So rolling admissions you think? Has anyone on here found out yet about summer? Thanks!

No worries I started the UM application around the same time. I just requested my transcripts today to be sent to the Nursingcas. I think the decision of admission will come a couple weeks after the deadline. However, they don't wait till after the deadline to look at your application like other schools.
@me10, I would suggest submitting your app asap. if you haven't yet been accepted elsewhere. some schools don't start reading applications until they all come in. From previous threads, I've read that they start accepting people as applications start to come in. Since the application opened around October, the first wave of acceptances should probably be released soon.

ok thanks for the heads up !
Hey guys, quick update: I called UM last week a couple of days after my application was verified to ask them if they had received my application. Apparently it was nowhere to be found! The lady on the phone searched through applications that were submitted, still in progress, everywhere she could! I sent her the e-mail proving that my application was verified and she showed it to the tehnical guy to see why I wasn't showing up. He also didn't know and asked me to call NursingCAS. The next day when I called NursingCAS they told me that my application was indeed submitted and verified and they didn't understand why I wasn't showing up in UM's system. They told me to call UM back and have the tech guy call the tech person at NursingCAS (each school has a different tech person) to fix the issue. After that, I received an e-mail the next day from NursingCAS that said they were working on the issue.
Now I have to just sit back and hope this all gets resolved soon since this is out of control It's a bit frustrating since I was verified Jan 29 (10 days ago) but the admissions committee won't see my application until they fix the issue. Normally it wouldn't matter, but since UM uses rolling admission it's always best to submit earlier, which I did do but now this happened...
Call UM and make sure they have your application!!! If I wouldn't have called, they would have never seen mine! Has anyone else had this problem?
