University of Miami Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Published

Hello :)

I am kind of early with this thread, but I am pretty excited about the possibility of starting nursing school in May! Anybody else out there considering UM's ABSN program for summer 15? Also, anybody that has gotten in the program if you don't mind sharing helpful information, please do! I will still have 3 outstanding pre-reqs that I am registered to take in Spring. My cum GPA & pre-req GPA without those last 3 classes will be a 3.3 for both. I think I have a fair chance, could be better! (and will be once I finish pre-reqs) But anyway, share your thoughts about this program if you are considering as well! & good luck :)

They finally received my application!!! Yayyy!!! So glad the issue was finally resolved! Now we play the waiting game again, lol.

Mine is currently undergoing verification :D ....so does that mean a decision will be made soon and they'll send it out? Or do we find out via NursingCAS? One step closer!!

I think next week released is the first group. It usually takes about a month after they receive your application

tabularawsa My application got verified within two weeks, and after I called yesterday I found out they made a decision on my application within one week of receiving it! But like charming_kitty was saying, I think they're going to release the first batch next week (they told us we'd find out next week!) After that, it might be a few more weeks before letting more people know because they might be waiting for a certain amount of applications to come in before they make decisions. Hard to say, but good luck! Either way you will out eventually!!

Thanks so much:) I suppose I'll know soon enough. Good luck to you!!

I'm in the verification process right now. So soon enough they'll have my app. Guess I'll be in the next wave of decisions! Good luck to those who should be hearing next week! I have no doubts you guys will be accepted :)

I too am just waiting on my verification :) Hopefully we'll know real soon! Good luck!!

Hi everyone. Glad to see a thread for the summer program. I submitted my application mid January and everything was processed and verified on January 28th. Haven't heard anything since. From what I'm hearing, UM should be emailing us with more info? Really hoping to get into the program. I also applied for the scholarship through the school of medicine.

Good luck to everyone!

@ canesdan. what scholarship?

Here's the link to the scholarship: https://careers.med.miami.edu/nursing_overview.asp

I think the deadline already passed. You have to commit to working for the hospital system for three years following licensure. I grew up down here so for me that's not a problem. It sounds pretty competitive though! But I'm just waiting to see if I'll even get in. My GPAs are all good and I'm a previous alum of UM so we'll see!

So my application status says incomplete on Canelink but an update on gaining access to Canelink! I was getting a little impatient because I'm nervous about the news, so I tried to create a Canelink (not intending to fully register) to see if they've created an account with my information already. Then I discovered that they already created an account for me and I have a username registered. So I called the student help desk today to change my password since I've yet to get an original password e-mail. They were able to reset it and I was able to login. Strange that they never e-mailed me the original access e-mail, but good to know for anyone else waiting.

Good to know Risser! I'm a previous alum, and I still have access to my Canelink, so I'm not too sure if they will update that one or make me a new one. Hopefully they'll just use the same one I had before. When I log in it, I don't see anything about this application or anything about the Accelerated BSN. Oh well, I suppose I'll find out soon enough.
