Hello :)

I am kind of early with this thread, but I am pretty excited about the possibility of starting nursing school in May! Anybody else out there considering UM's ABSN program for summer 15? Also, anybody that has gotten in the program if you don't mind sharing helpful information, please do! I will still have 3 outstanding pre-reqs that I am registered to take in Spring. My cum GPA & pre-req GPA without those last 3 classes will be a 3.3 for both. I think I have a fair chance, could be better! (and will be once I finish pre-reqs) But anyway, share your thoughts about this program if you are considering as well! & good luck :)

I think they just choose the highest grade.

Does anyone know if there is a recommendation form for the academic letter of recommendation? & where do we submit that??

you just send an email invite to ur reference.

Yeah, all you have to do is "Create a Reference Request" and make sure to put their email address and it will invite them automatically!

When I went to the info session they said the BLS wasn't necessary. They basically said the ONLY things you need are the pre-reqs and to have already gotten a Bachelor's. I believe the BLS and a couple other things you will need before matriculating though.

Hey everyone... So I just wanted to give everyone a little timeline from my experience so far.

I submitted my application right before Christmas -- December 21, 2014. All of my references completed the form pretty quickly and they were all submitted to my application before I even submitted my application. My transcripts were all received by January 3, 2015 (delayed because of the holiday and offices being closed). Nothing is verified until all materials are received. It takes 10-12 days for all of the application materials to be verified by NursingCAS. If there are any problems or discrepancies, they will contact you. The verification process took 10 days for my application in particular, taking me to January 13, 2015. At this time, University of Miami has everything in their system instantly for it to be reviewed by the admissions committee at the school.

I called the School of Nursing at UM today to verify that they have received my application and all of my information. The confirmed that it was received. They told me to allow about a month for me to hear back from them about a decision.

Hope this helps you all and takes the stress away a little bit. Stressing about this will not help! Be positive and believe in yourself! Good things come to positive people. Be patient, take a deep breath! You will all be fine and will be successful in life. Remember: Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

Is it odd that one of my transcripts hasn't arrived yet? I ordered all 3 (from different schools) on January 6th, and they have all been received except for one. It's been two weeks already, and I'm afraid that this is going to delay verification and submission to UM

Same here. Seems like they are busy. I emailed them about it. Their phone is off as well.
