Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all, I've been waiting to see a UM ABSN 2018 thread pop up but figured I might as well start one. I submitted my application on March 17 and still waiting for NursingCAS to verify my transcripts. From what I've gathered through past threads, its a rolling admission so I'm hoping to hear back in the next few months! Curious if there's anybody else out there who has applied or planning on applying!

Hi Sierra,

I assume by the middle of July I will be going to campus and have a list of questions to all parties involved.

If you need some assistance in finding housing let me know -- I have lived in Miami most of my life.

For all incoming students -- we all need to be careful regarding the Hepatitis B vaccine --- as this is a 3 part vaccine to be given from the first to the third in 6 months --- meaning if we are starting school in early January 2018 -- and you need to have this vaccine you will need to start the series no later than early July 2017 -- please verify with your medical doctor. Time is of the essence.

Hi guys! I have been away from the forum but I was accepted as well!

Is it too early to start a Facebook group?

Hey everyone!

Has anyone applied in late May and received an admission decision yet? Miami received my application May 19th and I just received my canelink a week ago. I called and spoke to someone in admissions and they said I would find out before the end of the month but wasn't specific. I know this is not a long time but it already feels like forever! Has anyone received a decision who applied after the first round of acceptances?

Also, congrats to those who have already been accepted!

@Jhtsgf congrats! I was starting to wonder where you went! Yes, lets make a FB group. I tried making one, but I need to add someone else. Give me your name so I can add you on fb and we can start one! I just had to revive an old fb since I stopped using fb a little while ago lol

@Voltaire11 solid advice! the other option being to get a blood titer, which I'll most likely be doing. And yes, I'll probably take you up on that housing assistance since I don't know the area. Def keep us updated on any info they give you

@dux23 hey welcome! Based on what I've seen, you'll most likely get a decision by the end of June or mid July as long as everything on NursingCAS has been verified. Fingers crossed for you! Do you live in Miami?

Thanks @sierra_foxtrot! I'm hoping it doesn't take until July. All my materials have been verified in NUrsingcas and my applicantion shows "complete" in canelink. Now I'm just anxiously waiting.

I live in Sarasota, Fl. About 3.5 hours NW of Miami.

@dux23 Hey! I submitted my application June 3rd and I received my canelink on June 6th. I haven't received a decision yet, but this waiting game is killing me! Fingers crossed

Hi!!! I submitted mine May 22nd and just got accepted!! Good luck to everyone :)

@hnurse7 congrats to you as well!

If anybody wants to give me their fb name, I can start the group

Seems like the second round of decisions have been made. I submitted my application mid-May and just received an acceptance.

Hi everyone! I today, submitted my application to UM via NursingCAS. From what I'm seeing, I should hear back within a month?? My gpa is a 3.3 so I'm a little nervous.

For those who have been accepted, did anyone have more than one pre-req outstanding? I currently have 3, but am completing 2 of them in the next few weeks. So far I haven't received a decision and applied May 15th. Maybe this is why I haven't received a decision? I am going to send those grades in as soon as they post.

@alexisb1, Miami has sent out 2 admission decisions so far during the middle May and June. My guess is they will do another round mid July. Good luck!

I had one class which ended a couple of days after submitting my application. Once my grades were posted, I submitted an updated transcript to the school.
