University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018

Published

Hey all, I've been waiting to see a UM ABSN 2018 thread pop up but figured I might as well start one. I submitted my application on March 17 and still waiting for NursingCAS to verify my transcripts. From what I've gathered through past threads, its a rolling admission so I'm hoping to hear back in the next few months! Curious if there's anybody else out there who has applied or planning on applying!

YAY somebody else with a dog!! I'm moving from Dallas with a large-ish dog and wanting to get a house (with a yard) with someone else who has a dog (or at least a dog lover). If you were interested in connecting or sharing space, we can message each other

Hey guys! I was accepted yesterday. Yay!! I have a million questions though!

Does anyone have any information on what the daily schedule is like?

I also clicked on the link in the FAQ to get the more recent NCLEX pass rates, and it is just a general website. Has anyone found these numbers?

I read on another allnurses posting that the clinical hours are done by doing a few shifts a week, and the hours/wk increase with each semester. Does anyone know what areas the clinical rotations are in and what hospitals they are usually at?

Finally, do you know if there are any housing options for one person with a medium sized dog? I do not mind driving a bit to get a cheaper place that will take a dog. It looks like the area around the university is pretty congested.

I am kind of bummed that they want a $1000 deposit in the next two weeks.... I am still waiting on other letters of acceptance, and that is a lot of money just to hold my spot. I guess I should have prepared for that though. If anyone is waiting for their letter, just be prepared!

I was hoping to get the answers to these questions too if anyone knows of the schedule. Also, I'm in the same boat... 1000 is a lot and am waiting for the application portal to open for USF which is closer to my home/family (Apparently will not know decision until October or November). :-( But congrats on getting in, if we choose to go to Miami I'd love to meet you and everyone else!:-)

sierra_foxtrot It will probably be a while (like months) before I know what school I am going to attend, but this sounds like a great idea!! I will message you if I decide on U Miami, and we can coordinate if you haven't found anyone else by then!

Hello,

I've just got accepted to Accelerated program Spring 2018. I haven't accept the admission yet because I want to make more research about the shool and program. Is there anybody who also get in and will be looking for some accommodation near campus?

Hi sierra_foxtrot

I cannot find our group on Facebook. There are some University Of Miami ABSN Spring 2018 groups but they have like thousands member so I don't think they are the right groups. Can you please add me in: Martyna Zdaniukiewicz

Thanks in advance!!

Hey all!

I just received my acceptance. Still deciding between staying here in Denver, CO and going to Regis vs. attending Miami but will need to make my decision in the next few days. I wish they gave more than 2 weeks!

I had a 3.2 overall GPA but a 4.0 in all prereqs. I have a BS in Materials Engineering, over 100 hours volunteering on a medical/surgical floor at a hospital, volunteered as an autopsy assistant with about 10 autopsies, and I got phlebotomy certification this summer. So low overall GPA can be overcome!

Congrats to all those who were accepted!

Hey Jgould11, do you mind if i asked when you applied? I had lost all hope of my professor submitting my reference in time due to the fact that I had sent him 5 reminder emails with no response but he just submitted it today :/ Thus, I sent in my app today but feel like it may be too late. I didn't see anywhere on UM's page about it being rolling admission!

I submitted my application on July 15th. They made the decision extremely fast!!!

That really sucks about the professor waiting to submit your recommendation. On NursingCAS it looks like the due date is August 1st, so you should be fine! And I bet you will hear back very soon!

Yes, you're in the group! There hasn't been much activity in it as of yet, but it shows you are a member

Hello, can you add "Jay Nomango Kim," to your facebook group?

I've been accepted by UM a few days ago.

I'm an international student by the way.

Thank you.

I sent a friend request to the only person that popped up under that name

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted! Can't wait to meet you guys in January. Btw the Plan of Study is online, the hardest semester is Summer, since we have 6 classes.

Just heard from someone at the office that there are still 60 available slots, for those of you still waiting to hear back!
