University of Miami-ABSN Summer 2019

Hi everyone! I know it's extremely early but I wanted to start a thread because I'm sure that like me, many of you have lots of questions. I'm hoping that this thread can be used to help us get answers! I would also like to know what other schools are you all applying to.

Any students that were previously accepted and willing to share their tips, stats, experience, etc we will gladly appreciate it.

Good luck to everyone. We got this!

I just got my acceptance as well! I'm sooo grateful for this opportunity and so excited to meet you all! I'll be moving to Miami from TN and don't even know where to start looking for apartments and which areas are the best, so I'd appreciate recommendations. Also, I'm looking for roommates if anyone is interested ?

Congratulations! Look forward to meeting you. Safe travels.

Thank you!! Congratulations to you as well ?

Congrats to those who got accepted!!! Would those who were accepted be willing to share their application date and/or admission stats? The suspense is killing me!

I applied on 12/08. My overall GPA is 4.0 but I sill have 2 prerequisites in progress. I have a lot of experience working with children with special needs but I have 0 hospital setting experience. I know the wait is horrible but stay positive! What's meant to be will happen ?

Thank you for sharing! I was verified on 1/08 so I will just keep calm and keep my fingers crossed.

Best of luck!! ?

I applied the first week of November.

My undergrad GPA was like a 3.4, last 60 units I got a 3.7, science GPA is 3.84. Never worked in a healthcare setting, but I volunteered in a hospital and a clinic. I will be declining if I get into a school in California though!

First and foremost I'd like to congratulate those who have been accepted into the program and wish those that will be applying, or already applied, good luck! I will be attending UM for their Spring 2019 ABSN program. I was very skeptical on applying since I didn't have anything on my application to separate me from the rest of the applicants besides military service, in a non-healthcare career field. No experience in any medical capacity, no volunteer hours in a healthcare setting, and a mediocre GPA. Bottom line is, I encourage all of you reading this to apply to the program. Make sure you have all the necessary prerequisites completed, or in progress, and submit your application. The earlier you apply, the earlier you will hear back. I also encourage those who have been accepted to create a FB group; this way you can get to know other classmates and use it as a medium to share information. Good luck to you all!

do you mind sharing your stats?

I just got in as well!!!

Hey! My application on NursingCAS says verified not complete. Is that what it’s supposed to be ? Also, I applied in October and never got any email from UM that I see you guys mention the Canelink.

Yes, it should say verified on NursingCAS!

I thought I didn't get an email from UM about CaneLink but turns out it was in my spam folder so check that first. If it's not there then definitely give them a call. What people refer to when they speak of "complete" vs. "incomplete" you will see in CaneLink under application status.
