University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

I spoke to someone yesterday and they told me that they are still working on January applications and that hopefully by the end of December they will start making decisions for May.

oh wow by the end of December??! That is fast! I think their deadline is February 2nd, 2018 in NursingCAS. Thank you for the update!

Hi,

I actually applied, and was accepted, for the Spring 2018 cohort. Due to military obligations, I was able to defer my enrollment to the Summer 2018 cohort. I am also applying to Summer 2018 UCF Second Degree BSN. Waiting is the worst part of the process. They will notify you when a decision has been made. You can then access the notification later in your Canelink.

Hi! Great thanks so much for the information happy holidays!

Hi, I just read the thread and am afraid I applying too close to the deadline. I wouldn't want to waste an application because I am not done with it yet. Missing my transcripts and personal statement. Getting certified tomorrow for BLS. Do you guys know if I should keep hustling and finish this application? or Maybe wait for next cycle?

Do they really pick in December when applications are due Feb?

Hey @ Zetalisetta,

If you want to attend UM, you should complete your application. They have rolling admissions but accept people until the end of the cycle. I was accepted in June for Spring 2018 and many others were also accepted after me.

I would totally still apply!

This wait is killing me. Does anyone else feel like they don't give enough time? They say its rolling admissions, but I've heard that most people get decisions back February and the program starts in May. They don't really give much time to get a lot of things situated, especially for out of state students! I've heard back from a school within 2.5 weeks!

Hello friends...

I am trying not to let myself become too much of a nervous wreck about this process. I am so interested in this program for its efficiency, cost, location, and the nursing simulation hospital UM has. I did Biology undergrad and its was challenging at my university (University of California...big public school and cutthroat). Thus, my cumulative GPA is pretty low. My prereq GPA is decently higher. I hope my work and volunteer experience, personal statement, and letter of rec make up for it and my heart for nursing shines through.

The office is closed for the holidays so I wouldnt freak out if your application still says "incomplete" for a while. I was told when I applied about 2 weeks ago that we should begin hearing back by the end of January, but from reading previous allnurses threads for UM ABSN, the first letters of admissions often come out mid February.

Goodluck to all of you. Remember that we will become nurses somehow, someway. Just praying UM gives me the green light!

It is only $35.00 to apply. I would say go for it!!! You can always apply for Spring 2019 if you dont get good news.

@hopefulRN94 I completely understand! My cumulative GPA is also significantly lower than my pre-req.. I truly hope that they mostly just focus on pre-reqs, resume/volunteer work and letters of rec! The waiting game is the hardest part but we only have a little over a month left. All we can do is keep busy and stay positive! :)

Hi guys, Im also applying to UM. Silly question, but for the Transcript Entry portion on the NursingCAS website, are we really required to insert EVERY single class taken thus from freshman year until senior year of college? This seems quite tedious, it's my first time using nursingCAS so it's a bit of a surprise they would want us to manually enter every course ever taken in our college career. Thanks for any info!

Unfortunately you are. I just paid for them to enter my transcripts for me. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion lol
