I'm applying for UH MEPN program for Fall 2009. Has anyone heard about the program? It's fairly new but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into...lol. I know overall, nursing school is tough but would like some feedback on the MEPN program itself.
Thanks!
Hi everybody, I just found this forum and have been accepted to MEPN program, just received my letters too. It's weird because the letter said that the form is due by the 21st of March but the form says it must be there by the 1st of April...hmmm. I'm going for the FNP specialty and am from Kauai, I know someone was inquiring about how many applicants are from Hawaii and I agree that it's very important to train those who want to stay in Hawaii. Can't wait to meet the new cohort!! And best of luck to those who haven't heard anything yet...
I just got my letter today. I am on the mainland, so I expect there was a few days difference. I only got a letter with information of intent to accept/register. Did the second letter you received have anything in it about Financial aid? I would love to get some more info to see if financing this venture is even possible!!
hey everyone, i'm super confused and maybe you can help. i got my letter today, but it is only a letter from the graduate admissions office stating i've been accepted for the fall 2011 semester to the nursing-MS program. it says nothing about MEPN, but I know you need to be accepted to both MEPN and the graduate school... I am NOT already a registered nurse, so I'm just really perplexed by all of this, since as many of you noted, there is zero information given. did anyone else receive a similar letter?
Hello everyone,
So I received an email that said that they fell behind in sending out letters b/c they had changes in personnel, so the GRADUATE DIVISION was going to be sending out the letters of acceptance/declination. This is probably why your letters say that!! :) Congrats to all that received their letters and got accepted!! For everyone who didn't receive a letter, they said that all letters should be sent in the next week or so (I rec'd the email on the 16th, today is the 21st).. soo if you didn't receive a letter or call, and from what i have read here you can stop hoping for a YES! BUT, maybe some of us are on the waitlist, which i am not completely sure if they even have one??
Thanks for all the info guys!! Hope you all get more help than this when you are in the program!!!
Hi all! I'm a nursing student @ OHSU...graduating in 3 months! My sister applied to the MEPN program (w/ a masters in mental health focus). She had an interview and was told she would here from them by the end of the week (a month ago). She still has not heard from them...and they haven't even had the decency to return her phone call.
What is the deal with this place. It sounds like communication is faltering, but this is ridiculous. Do you think she still has a chance? Anyone else going for the mental health masters?
Good luck everyone and congrats to those of you who have been accepted!

Aloha everyone,
I got my bachelor's at the University of Hawaii and it is very typical of them to lag regarding communication. In this instance however they seem on track. Last year's applicants got thier letters on March 25th so I'm sure that we will get ours around then as well. I've lived in hawaii for 7+ years and know the island and the University pretty well, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask! Very excited to meet everyone when school starts.
P.S. - there is also a facebook page for the MEPN program that we can use as a forum
