Sorry for this reply/comment to be kinda off-topic, but during your call did you happen to pick up any info about if all the acceptance letters have been sent out yet? I have not heard anything back yet...it's making me lose hope that they are just taking a long while to send out denials. I am trying to be optimistic, but any information for me would be much appreciated!

Hi Kate! I read in this forums from 1 of the accepted candidate that they have until 1/19 to turn in their acceptance. GEPN coordinator didn't give me a date. He did mention, accepted candidates have weeks to accept then they'll go from there. Sorry I'm no help?. Good luck to all of us. In God's timing. ??

Thank you for that info! I've been making all sorts of homemade theories that they are releasing the acceptances in batches or something, and therefore that date would be different for people in different "batches." This waiting game is making me delusional. All I can do is wait, and let what happens happens. Congrats to everyone no matter what tho! : D

Hi! Me - No not yet. I called yesterday, and GEPN coordinator Justin asked for my last name. He couldn't disclose on ranking #s. He did say points are based on essay, GPA, etc. Also, he did say congrats for being chosen alternate bc UHM don't pick a lot of alternates, knowing that they receive 200 applicates every yr. Hoping for the best. Alternates: Have you guys apply for FAFSA in case?

It is what they want us to believe that we succeeded somehow. Our numbers are close to or at the same as the regularly accepted students, according to my source inside. Plus, they look at the racial/ wealth status of every applicant, but they won't say it bc it's discriminatory.UHM has always and will always be against colored people unless you go to I'olani, Punahou, and Kam School. ngl it is heartbreaking for me to be on that alt list also, but we will recover and prove to this racist school that we are capable of becoming a nurse.

I have not heard anything yet. I tried reaching out to them to get some sort of idea where I am on the list since, but they said it's confidential and it's based on a scoring system or something of that nature. It's just kind of frustrating since I got into a mainland school and could potentially start in the Summer, but I live on Oahu and moving is going to be very expensive for me ?. I don't even know if it's worth waiting for....

Don't lose hope. I'm declining the offer today. They made me wait for the results, so I am making them wait til the last day to respond. Hope you get in!

Thanks for your insight. We just have to hope for the best and not resort to thinking negative and having all those thoughts control us. I know, easy to say. What's meant to be, will be. Yes, we're all capable. He did say to refine on experience or essay if not accepted this round. For me, I have 3 remaining courses to complete and I grad w my BA in May - I have 13 yrs of CNA exp. I'm raised here on O'ahu, local resident.

Most of my prereqs are expiring, so it doesn't make sense to apply again and again for a similar alternate list.Even if they accepted me today, I would tell them to shove it inside their bigot's ***. I should have never applied to this gepn program for the elites. I'm also a CNA plus years of experience in hospital central/ materials management supply.

With the current nationwide shortage of nurses, it's disheartening that there aren't enough instructors around to teach. We are all deserving of a spot in this program and will become registered nurses one way or another!

Hospitals and UHM don't care about the shortage. They can easily import filo and illegal nurses from the border, and we the Hawaii residents, are stuck in low-paying jobs without any possibilities of financial growth. I tried my very best during my undergrad as well as prereqs. UHM gepn can go to hell.

I declined my offer a few days ago as I am from the mainland and accepted my offer from Johns Hopkins. Hope one of you gets in ?

Hello everyone,

I want to get your opinion(s). I got accepted to 3 direct entry DNP schools so far--UVM, UMass, and UH. UH is really one of my top choices. However, the tuition scares the heck out of me. I made some calculations and I ended up getting a total of around 250k just for an out of state tuition. Can somebody confirm that an out of state student like me might spend like this ridiculous amount? I will be paying out of state tuition anyway, wherever I go, but I think >250k is a bit unreasonable? I would love to be in Hawaii but this is just too much, especially that scholarships and grants are uncertain. Deadline to pay the deposit is approaching. ?

Aloha, I apologize that my response is so delayed but life has been super busy! My best advice would be to do a cost comparison but include housing. I applied to two other schools on the mainland ( Indiana and Oregon ). I applied to only places where I knew I would have support or family. I have to kids, so I need to ensure my kids would have support as well. My husband and I live in Hawaii which is why UH was my first choice. I also did my BA and MPH at UHM so I know the campus and faculty well. Go where your gut is telling you to go. If you come to Hawaii, you'll have your cohort to lean on ?

Hey guys I wanted to give u some insight on GEPN I'll be joining who ever gets in I'm part of the GEPN fall 2023 I have to repeat one course and I'll be joining through the rest of the year of your cohort Spring/Summer
