University of Hawaii Fast-Track Program

Published

Hi everyone!

Thanks to google, I found this site! This site has been so helpful with so much information that all of you provide. Thank you!

I would like to know if anyone here has any information on the fast track nursing program for University of Hawaii? I was more curious as to how many students they accept or if there's a waiting list. I heard it's very competitive, but wondering if I even got a chance.

Thanks for your response! :wink2:

I am assuming you mean MEPN (since the accelerated BSN was d/c'ed to free budget for the program). I am currently in the inaugural class of MEPN at UH. I have plenty that I would like to say, but I am confident that you can PM me for any information that you desire. :omy:

ya, sadly UHM discontinued their accelerated BSN program but they do offer a new direct entry master's program now. it's important to note that you are required to finish the entire program and will NOT be awarded a BSN partway through (i imagine this is to prevent people using the program as an acc. bsn rather than the intended msn).

I just read the forum or post about University of Hawaii MEPN PROGRAM...does anyone know about the program or any students who are in it already? Please help. Deadline for the program is approaching and I need some feedback.

Dear mcubed45,

Could you give us some feedback on University of Hawaii's MEPN program? Is it worth applying for? How's the teaching curriculum and overall experience?

I am one week from being finished with the pre-licensure year of the MEPN program at UH as part of the inaugural class. As I stated earlier, I have a lot that I would like to say, but will only do so privately. We were a small cohort (27) and I would prefer my opinions stay private :) Feel free to PM me with specific questions!

i'm not in the MEPN program. i'm an undergrad starting manoa's BSN spring09. :)

i'm also pretty much done with a BS in mathematics. this is why i was looking into the acc BSN originally.

That's great for you. I was thinking the same thing: to apply for both UH's regular BSN program and MEPN since I already earned a BA in Sport Science. Good luck to you and I hope all goes well. Was it hard to get into the BSN program?

I understand. However, I just got started with this great forum and haven't earned the "platinum" level to PM. Is it possible to email me directly? I'd really appreciate your feedback on the program. I've heard good and bad (horror stories) and it would be nice to hear from a student directly. I'm wondering what am I getting myself into and if I should apply to other schools including on the mainland. I even thought about going into Occupational Therapy but I'd have to move away so that's why I'm in this predicament and need your help.

the hardest part for me was raising my gpa. my cumulative was pretty bad from when i was an engineering major and not really all that interested in school. when i started taking my nursing pre-reqs i got all A's and did well on my NLN so that made up for my low gpa. if you've got a decent gpa, mostly A's in the pre-reqs, and decent test score you should be ok. best to talk to an advisor though.

lol i just noticed - how come this's in general chat and not the Hawaii forum?

Does anyone know how many applicants they're accepting this year? I also applied at UCSF, Yale (out of the picture):(, and Columbia. So nervous about the results. :imbar
