Hi everyone!

Thanks to google, I found this site! This site has been so helpful with so much information that all of you provide. Thank you!

I would like to know if anyone here has any information on the fast track nursing program for University of Hawaii? I was more curious as to how many students they accept or if there's a waiting list. I heard it's very competitive, but wondering if I even got a chance.

Thanks for your response! :wink2:

Hey everyone. I am knew to this website as well and would like to know more about the mepn at UH Manoa program. I think someone brought up a good question regarding the chances of getting into the program with a 3.0 gpa and if they are more likely to accept those with a 4.0 gpa. I was wondering if someone could further explain this. Also, your experiences with the program in terms of being prepared for the NCLEX exam and surviving the course/work load. Also if you have any other suggestions? Lastly, someone was talking about an acclerated BSN at UH manoa. Is this still available? Even if you received a B.A. from a different university? Please feel free to respond. Thank you.

The accelerated BSN program was discontinued a few years ago to make way for the MEPN program. It's important to note that the MEPN program DOES NOT award a BSN partway through the program so you do not have the option of stopping partway and getting licensed.

I have a few more questions on the MEPN program. I wanted to know more if the fall and spring semester grades of my senior year would be equated in the gpa requirement, as the grades for the fall semester aren't available until mid-January of my senior year which is after the application due date. Therefore, only my spring of junior grades is equated in the gpa during the submission of the application. Also if students at this point are borderline of receiving a 3.0 gpa, would you accept a student but on a condition basis that they do fulfill a 3.0 gpa at the end of their graduation?

And does the admission look at the level of courses taken in the undergraduate work if the gpa is not in the upper percentile? Do they also consider other factors in determining admission? Lastly, are there any cases of students reapplying to the program and getting submitted? Do you recommend to continually reapply? What grades should you get on your pre-reqs?

Also, your experiences with the program in terms of being prepared for the NCLEX exam and surviving the course/work load. Also if you have any other suggestions? How was the interview process? How do you prepare for this? Who should write your letters of recommendations? Do you recommend shadowing a nurse practitioner? Please feel free to respond. Thank you.

hey everyone,

i was wondering if i could get your input for those who have applied or are currently in the program. I was wondering if when you apply do you already need to know what specialty track you want to go in? And if you are in the program and decide to change specialty after the first year is this possible? I assume that through the first year you would have a better understanding of what specialty you want to go in. But does admission already wants students to know? Furthermore, upon applying, does the type of specialty increases your chances of getting submitted? i.e FNP is highly popular vs. CNS so do they accept those who directly apply for a CNS, and limit those who want the FNP?

bullpups,

I would like to talk to you about the program. I am from the bay area california and got accepted to the MEPN program at Manoa for fall 2010. It's a big price tag and I want to make a good choice. I see that we cannot post emails addresses on this site, so how can we get in contact? Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks

I am one week from being finished with the pre-licensure year of the MEPN program at UH as part of the inaugural class. As I stated earlier, I have a lot that I would like to say, but will only do so privately. We were a small cohort (27) and I would prefer my opinions stay private :) Feel free to PM me with specific questions!

Aloha,

I am new to this site and will be applying to the MEPN program this year. I was interested in asking you some questions, however i cannont figure out how to PM you :( Please let me know how i can get in touch with you.

Mahalo!
