University of Florida DNP Fall 2021

Published

Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to the University of Florida for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP specialty in Pediatric Acute Care. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Any current students that might want to share their experiences with application process, and the current state of the program? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey.

What other schools did you all apply to?

I applied to USF (got in), FGCU (got in), FIU (haven’t heard yet), and UF (haven’t heard yet. UF is my first choice. I applied to AGACNP there. But FNP at USF. They’re my top two choices.

No other school ? I also put all my eggs in one basket. But I also had a lot of exciting big things going on in life and I didn’t have time to apply to other schools, so I went straight for my top choice! Applied to the AGACNP program

USF FNP (Got in)

UCF FNP (Got in)

Belmont FNP (Got in)

Georgetown MSN (In)

John’s Hopkins FNP (Interviewed)

Colorado U FNP (BIG no from them ?)

UF taking they sweet time and of course they’re my number 1 hahaha

I do wanna add this little bit and hope it helps! I have friends and coworkers in the program and their academic and professional backgrounds all range insanely different. Some of them have had 0 exp (at the time of app) and 3.5+ But a ton of volunteer exp and they got in. I have coworkers that had 3.2+ with 4+ years exp and got in. Likewise, I have people who got 4.0 and got rejected even with exp or volunteer exp. it really is a holistic look.  the programs that my buddies applied to all ranged but there really isn’t one that’s any harder to get into than the other (so they say). Have faith!! We all got this ? no one is out of the running till they say no haha

I would love to hear everyone’s reasoning. Why did you choose to apply to the FNP or AGACNP over the other specialty?

1. FNP is generally more competitive.
I don’t see myself doing family practice (not that that’s all you can do), but I’m in multisystem critical care and would like to stay within the hospital and work alongside Pulm critical care or CCM. I thought the AGACNP track was better fitting for what I am looking to accomplish in the future.

I’ve heard that. I always assumed AGACNP would be more competitive due to the nature of the material. IDK.

I chose AGACNP because I want to work in a cardiology group and round in the hospital. Plus, I don’t want to work with kids. I like learning about adults.

My video also hasn't been viewed yet, hoping I see a  new "view" any day now! (although I don't know if that will make me more or less anxious, haha)/

Has anyone’s application been viewed? Like I received this when I submitted it.
