University of California, Irvine (UCI) Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) 2024

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to create this forum because I haven't seen one for this cycle. I figured it would be a good way to connect with others who are going through the application process, are scared, nervous, excited, or lost. (or maybe all of the above) Also just a great way to stay updated with the application cycle. The application closes on Nov 1st! ?

Would love if anyone wanted to introduce themselves, and why they decided to apply to UCI nursing masters program.

I will start!

I am in my last semester of college! WOO WOO! Graduating with my bachelors in Kinesiology, and I currently have a 3.63 GPA. I have over 300 hours of volunteer/ clinical experience. I have over 50 shadowing hours for different nurses, and doctors. I chose UCI because they have access to some of the best hospitals, but I chose Masters, because I am sure as you all know BSN and ADN programs are so impacted and only care about numbers. (Yes I know this program is extremely competitive ;-;) UCI looks at other things besides numbers, which for me is important. 

I just submitted my application today (I know late) but I unfortunately had a lot of unexpected events happens in the past two month that caused a huge delay ? so I am hoping it doesn't affect my application too much. 

Good luck everyone, I wish we could all just get accepted. 

ALSO..... did anyone else flinch when they saw the price of the application ;-;

I wonder if the the waitlist email was also sent in alphabetical order. I got mine at 11:37 and last name starts with C.  Or could it have been sent based on our position.

I don't think it was alphabetical. I got mine at 1134 and my last name starts with an S.

Hey! I remember earlier in the thread you mentioned you were interviewing with USD...how did that go?

Oh Emily Ann you know I didn't go LOL

It would honestly be cheaper for me to just wait another year to reapply than it would be to go to USD, although I do think I'll get in somewhere. This is my second career and there is no way I am willing to fork out 120k for a master's degree.

I bailed on the interview yesterday after UCI decisions went out. I actually live in San Diego and as much I would have loved to keep my connections with Sharp and Rady's, I was just sweating at the thought of how I would afford private school. I'm still paying off loans from my last grad program and it wasn't even a fraction of the cost in comparison. I'm rooting for you! And I hope you get a spot off the waitlist ?

I asked UCI what the criteria are for choosing people from the waitlist once spots become available, and if there would be a second interview. Here's their response:

"We will not be requesting applicants to complete a second interview or submit additional materials for our review; we will be reviewing current application information that has already been submitted and submitted interviews."

For those of you who got accepted into UCI, congratulations! I was wondering if you guys had other programs you were accepted into and are likely to commit to that program over UCI's? Just trying to gauge my chances of getting off the waitlist ?

Second choice! I'll know for sure after I hear back from UCLA next week!
