University of California, Irvine (UCI) Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) 2024

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to create this forum because I haven't seen one for this cycle. I figured it would be a good way to connect with others who are going through the application process, are scared, nervous, excited, or lost. (or maybe all of the above) Also just a great way to stay updated with the application cycle. The application closes on Nov 1st! ?

Would love if anyone wanted to introduce themselves, and why they decided to apply to UCI nursing masters program.

I will start!

I am in my last semester of college! WOO WOO! Graduating with my bachelors in Kinesiology, and I currently have a 3.63 GPA. I have over 300 hours of volunteer/ clinical experience. I have over 50 shadowing hours for different nurses, and doctors. I chose UCI because they have access to some of the best hospitals, but I chose Masters, because I am sure as you all know BSN and ADN programs are so impacted and only care about numbers. (Yes I know this program is extremely competitive ;-;) UCI looks at other things besides numbers, which for me is important.

I just submitted my application today (I know late) but I unfortunately had a lot of unexpected events happens in the past two month that caused a huge delay ? so I am hoping it doesn't affect my application too much.

Good luck everyone, I wish we could all just get accepted.

ALSO..... did anyone else flinch when they saw the price of the application ;-;

I just got an email regarding the waitlist

Is there anything in the portal regarding the waitlist status?

I received an email about a waitlist as well at 11:33am.
If anyone has any information about students they know who have been accepted from the waitlist before (ex. When they found out, if there's a second interview, etc). Could you please share? Just trying to gauge how common and likely this is. Thank you!

Still have yet to receive information about anything, I am gonna assume that I have been rejected. ;-;

Good job to everyone who got in, and even those who have gotten on the waitlist. You will all be amazing nurses!

I think the second interview was only last year because there was a second wave of applicants. I believe that those who were admitted have until March 1st to accept. Hopefully we hear back the first week of March. Wishing the best for all of us!

I was waitlisted as well. Based on last year's thread, about half of those waitlisted ended up getting admitted. This is also a very small sample size though, so that might not be reliable.

I think last years cohort was larger so maybe that's why half of those waitlisted might have been admitted. I wish they could provide us with the waitlist size and our position.

No, this cohort should still be 40. Last year was the first time they admitted 40 so that might be where you're getting that from. The cohort expansion was permanent, I assume. No reason to go back and forth.

I also got a waitlist email earlier today around 11:50 AM

I'm also on the waitlist as well! Received the email at 11:55!

Thank you for sharing the times you heard back. It helps those of us who haven't just be able to move on. I'm sure UCI will take their time sending rejection letters.
Wish you all the best. Keep pushing to get to that elusive RN license.

I got an email regarding being waitlisted at 11:55 am today. Best of luck to everyone! :))
