University of California, Irvine (UCI) Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) Fall 2023

Published

Hi all,

I had seen a discussion thread last year for students who applied to UCI's MEPN program and I found the comments really helpful. Maybe by connecting we can see when invitations to interview are sent out. ? I did see that UCI was expanding its MEPN program this year which is exciting!

A little about me-I am pursuing nursing at the mid stages of my life. I have a degree in Health Education and Health Promotion and community health nursing is my aspiration! Hope we can connect!

I am also throwing my hat into other degree programs- CSUF, Golden West, Saddleback, Vanguard. Basically anywhere that fits my goals and budget ?

Specializes in telemetry.

Had an interview, still no word yet. This sucks, just need to know if its a yes or no fam LOL.

Same Idc if it's a rejection I just want to know so I'm not a slave to my emails ?

I'm so sorry to hear that. This program is so competitive! Do you mind sharing if it was via email and/or portal update?

It was via email that said there was an update on my portal. I checked my portal and that's where the denial letter was. I applied for the first round of admissions. I have a feeling that I may have been rejected because I took "Intro to Chemistry" and not "General Chemistry." I was denied by CSUF for that reason. But maybe it was something else? Anyhow, I hope you all get into the programs you want!

Yep, your chemistry course is probably an issue. Some other entry-level nursing programs I considered wanted pharmacology as a prerequisite. I took 2 quarters of psychopharmacology and 1 quarter of neuropharmacology and that was not good enough for them.

I do! I volunteered at a hospital near my campus when I was an undergrad and more recently, at Kaiser as a COPE Health Scholar. I also do research full-time in the clinical research field.

Hi! I've been trying to get into research in the clinical research field but I can't find any. Would love to know how can one start that path as a pre-nursing major? I'm currently at a CC and will be applying in Spring and Fall this year. If you want to share details in a private message instead, feel free to do so. Thank you so much.

Hi everyone. I also applied during the second deadline and received an invitation for an interview. Does anyone have any tips to prepare for the interview?

It really has helped me to just go over common nursing school interview questions

@Rosd08 did you alredy do yours? I am doing mine tomorrow?

OK cool. I have been doing that as well. I watched a video about someone who said she did just that to prepare but when she came to the do the interview the four questions were completely different from what she was expecting. So I'm a little bit nervous

I'm going to assume if you don't get an interview invite earlier this week esp if you applied the second deadline you are most likely rejected? A soft rejection of sorts. Honestly this helps understanding where I stand since I don't want to be strung along to July LOL.  Anyways, congrats to those that got an interview and making it this far! Don't be nervous, y'all are going to do amazing!  ❤️

For those of us who applied by priority, did the interview, and haven't heard back, I believe we are in "limbo." My thoughts are that stand in a space where we *may* be accepted, *may* be waitlisted, and *may* be rejected based off the applications from the second interviews.

For those of you who received an interview invite: remember to be yourself! Speak from you heart. I recommend going over a lot of "why you want to be a nurse" or "what makes you a candidate" type of questions
