I didn't see a thread for UCI MEPN 2022 so thought I would create one. At this point, the work is done and applications are submitted...but there's plenty to still agonize about (the 3-5% acceptance rate, for one). Does anyone have intel on whether there will be interviews, and if so, when they might be? The website says acceptance notifications will be sent "starting in March", but I haven't found anything else more concrete.
Will say, UCI’s handling of communication streams is quite unprofessional compared to all other programs I’ve applied whether accepted, rejected or otherwise.
Hi, I'm a current UCI MEPN student. For those of you who are still waiting on a response, UC Irvine takes a while before sending rejection emails. I believe last year they first sent interview emails, then acceptances, then waitlists, and then rejections. For a general timeframe from last year, I received an email for an interview on Feb 12 and my interview was scheduled on Feb 18. I heard back on Feb 26. People received rejections on March 17 based off the thread for the year I applied in.
I hope that helps those of you who are anxiously waiting. I know the wait is long and terrible, but hang in there! I’m not delusional. I have an idea of where this is going. I’d just like closure. We worked really hard and I think we deserve that. I think leaving people in the dust is honestly rude of them. Why let people keep thinking they have a chance?

Also, I just got an email back that states "Please note that any communications that other applicants receive do not necessarily indicate updates to your admission status".
I received an email from UCI and they are offering me a spot in the program (I was waitlisted). I thought it will take forever if ever that I would hear anything. All of you in waitlist don't give up yet and keep checking your emails!

Thank you! I received an official letter in email where they let me know that there is a spot open and they are offering it to me. Then they asked if I will accept it and to respond to that email. After they receive my answer they will send me further information. I got an automated message back for my response saying that she is not in office until next Tuesday and will respond then. No updates in my portal yet.
