Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.
I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

It would be really great if they were teaching theory online and then set practicum in chunks so that students wouldn't necessarily have to move to Calgary (for those of us not yet living there) to attend next semester on short notice, and would just need to organize a place to stay during practicum. Do you know more about the delivery by any chance? I think I read that they would be doing online classes, but still having weekly practicum.
They recently sent out an email to let us know that we can complete Term 3 100% online if we choose to. Those of us who have been accepted and live outside of Calgary have been asked to confirm whether or not we'll be living in Calgary for the upcoming term. Hope that helps.

That's a positive at least. Hopefully we hear back soon from the waitlist but December 15th will be the termination date of the waitlist, from my understanding, so I guess it's just a day by day. I wish they would let us know our position on the waitlist...

Has anyone booked appointments for immunization, especially those without previous immunization records?
TIA!?
Hey! Yeah I went yesterday to get my immunizations. Be ready to make like at least 2 trips though for those and they are booking out fast! I got my immunization record online and printed them off.

Yes! There is a specific number to call for incoming nursing students at the SU Wellness clinic, you can find it on their website. Be prepared to make 2 trips to the clinic since for the tuberculosis skin test, they are required to see you within the next 48-72 hours for results. In one trip to the clinic I got 5 shots in the same arm.

It would be nice to have an idea on our positions for sure. Really trying to embrace the silver linings of the waiting process, I hope you guys are all able to as well.
Hang in there! ? I was told that they will definitely roll out offer letters till December.

Oh great! That sounds good, thanks.
One more thing, what was your wait time like between booking appointments for immunization and getting it done?

I emailed the nursing immunization coordinator in September to see if I could get a hold of the immunization sheet. She sent them to me, and I made my appointment in the first week of October for this week. When I tried to change my appointment due to work in the middle of October they told me that they were booked out for the rest of the month and are now into November, right now I don’t know what that is looking like for appointments. For my second appointment they booked it right at the end of my first appointment.
