This is what happened to me, I took anatomy and physiology and got an B-, I retook them to boost my GPA and got an A. When I spoke to admissions to find out my GPA, they counted both my B- and A, I thought my B- was going to get replaced but they said my original anatomy and physiology falls into my last 10 classes.

Ahhh I see how that happens... yeah if you retook the course right after the first time then your first attempt would still count as one of your RECENT courses because its still within the MOST recent 5 courses. But if the first time you took it was like 6-7+ courses ago then it wouldn’t have counted within the recent 5 courses to be used in your admission GPA 😔

After anxiously waiting for an update on my application, I finally got some good news!

Admitted this afternoon through the Transfer-route!! Yaaay! I'm so excited and relieved ☺

@apina Where you able to find out what your GPA is? I'm also on the waitlist and have been told anyone with below 3.60 is waitlisted.

I emailed the nursing and admissions people and ---------------------- emailed back today and said it was calculated at a 3.41?? Which doesn't make sense because if they took my last however many courses, I got mostly A's, A-'s, and I think 1 B, excluding the B-'s from Stats and A&P I took this Summer. And I know that a couple of them can be replaced by some of my MRU courses, and the ones that would be replaced because you're higher are A's 😕 And my GPA from MRU was a 3.56ish and my UVic one, when converted to the 4.0 scale, is a 3.67ish so I would have assumed I'd be in the low to mid 3.5 range and not at a 3.41 😕

And I thought they took the ones that are considered transferable, and not the most recent ones taken? Or at least that was what Lindy had explained to me when I met with her back in February.

Also UofL also has an accelerated 2 year nursing program too and its only about 2 hours away from Calgary.

Yeah, I've been looking in to them and into UBC but it's more of the cost of living that worries me. I'm already pretty in debt from my previous degree and lost my job due to COVID earlier this year and haven't really had any luck finding anything work wise 😕 U of C is just local for me so I could still live at home, ahahah

For those of you who have been accepted, just a heads up that we can enroll in our classes! You have to pay your deposit first. For me, course registration appeared 3 days after I paid the deposit.

Hi !!

Has anyone with international transcripts been accepted yet? Does anyone know roughly the number of seats reserved each year for international students?

On Friday my status changed to "We are currently assessing one or more of your courses to determine whether it can be used as one of the required courses for this program." Hopefully I will hear back soon. I have seen other people with the same message that have been waiting for 3 weeks or more.

Does anyone know if the Winter semester is going to be all online, or if it'll be on campus?

They told me classes will be online and labs/practical courses will be in person

Hey guys,

I'm an external applicant with a 3.65 GPA. Pretty surprised that I was put on a waitlist given that they normally only accept students with at least a 3.8. Was expecting a rejection right away. I know my likelihood is quite low of getting in and I'm currently taking 2 online courses to bump up my GPA to hopefully a 3.84 and reapply for Fall 2021. However, I'm curious to know when they start admitting students from the waitlist? Does anyone know?

If this is the same thing they used for nursing then I’m not sure how I already got accepted.

I believe the attachment I have below is what they use but don’t quote me on that one.

Hi, so sorry for the late response! I haven't been on here for sometime. I called admissions and they said my GPA should be a rough estimate. I called a few times and each time no one was able to convert it and give me a sure answer. We'll just have to wait and see I guess :(

Hey! My percentage was about the same and my GPA is higher and have already been accepted. Shoot me an email and I can help you calculate it and check it! Email is simonefaul33@gmail.com

Sorry for the late response. I spoke with admissions and they believe it should be about right. If there are any other issues though, I will definitely email you, if that's okay. Thank you!!

Hello all,

Any information about tuition yet? When do you also plan to apply for student loan?

TIA!

I applied for Alberta Student Loans before I got my acceptance offer. They will approve your loan right away, and then it is finalized once the U of C sends them confirmation of your registration. It's nice to get that done early, and factored into the budget 🙂

Here is the link for current tuition and fees: https://www.ucalgary.ca/pubs/calendar/current/p-1-1.html

They have suspended the campus recreation fees for this year, since we will have limited access to those facilities.

Did you apply for Winter 2021 or did you also apply for the Spring semester? It's confusing since we have class all year except for Summer.

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to everyone that got in.

I'm an international student and my application recently got cancelled. my GPA was below average.

I would need help in what easy courses I can take to boost my GPA. I currently have a B+ in A&P, B+ English and B+ in Statistics (took them at Athabasca).

Your advice and tips will be very much appreciated.

Thank you.
