Please, share how much time do classes take daily. How much time do you spend doing homework?

In the Winter semester we had 3 days of theory and labs, a full day of clinical plus a half day, and one day off. As for homework time, I think that depends on each individual but there are lots of readings.

Hello, I am new to this thread. I just got rejected from UBC nursing program and hoping to apply to U of C after degree route. I have an undergraduate degree(4.04/5.0) , a postgrad certificate (3.63/4.0). Currently completing A & P at Athabasca. Can someone give me tips to applying and getting accepted?

Hi all,
I am planning to apply for the University of Calgary degree holder next year.

Wondering if there is anyone who is on the same boat as me. I graduated from my university back home like a few years ago then went to my colleague here in Calgary. in this case, I am intended to be under the degree holder route?
Also if that's the case, which transcript or grade will they look for? from my latest education (But this is a diploma).

Please advise, thank you ?

The GPA they consider includes all the prerequisites they listed, plus the most recent courses you took. I think they calculate 30 credits in total (prerequisites plus other courses). In your case, those other courses will be the courses in your diploma. They consider the GPA of the courses you took so it doesn’t matter if it is from a diploma or degree. Hope the way I explained is easy for you to understand.

Thank you for your reply!

I actually got it confirmed with one of an advisor from nursing that my college credit will be used for admission purposes as it is the most recent.
However, I talked with another advisor from admission, and she recommended me check at TransferAlberta to see those courses are transferable...
I went to the webpage to see, however, there were no courses I took on the transferable list... I am in a panic... As the nursing advisor told me that as long as I take 15 credits of a prerequisite courses, it's fine.

Does anyone have the same issues before?

Am I supposed to take another 15 credits that can be transferable?

I don’t think you need to take another 15 credits. Unlike other programs, the nursing degree holder program put all the students in the same cohort. That is, the students take exactly the same courses every semester. Even you might have taken similar courses when you studied for your diploma, you cannot “transfer” those credits to the degree-holder program. But your GPA of those credits will be calculated when they divide there admission.

Hi Marta,

I appreciate your feedback!

I am not sure I explained my situation appropriately. I was told 15 course from the latest post-secondary will be adding to those another 15 credits prerequisite coursework then they calculate GPA for admission cutoff.
(Effective Fall Session 2017, the Transfer Admission GPA will be calculated based on the pre-requisites outlined under “Admission Requirements” (English, Arts, Statistics and Anatomy/Physiology), regardless of when they were completed, plus an additional 15 units taken from the most recent t"ransferable coursework" for a total of 30 units.)

I was wondering what if the none of the courses I took from the latest post-secondary school is transferable as per here: http://transferalberta.alberta.ca/transfer-alberta-search/#/searchTypeStep ?
Will they just take a cumulative GPA from my previous post-secondary institution?

Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am taking a few prerequisites from Athabasca and there is no need for me to keep studying if none of my previous courses are acceptable..

Hey everyone! If anyone here is looking to apply for 2021 I am creating a new forum for it. Going to call it "University of Calgary, January 2021" if you want to look it up ?
