Hello, I’m applying for the U of C degrees holder route for January 2020. Just want to say hi to other applicants. I applied on July 2nd and have not got any update on my application.

Hello, does anyone know how we figure out if we belong to the blue or green group for clinical placements?

I know it's not super clear with what they sent on d2l. So basically just go to myuofc website and check your schedule for Nurs 289. You will find two different rows in that section. The second row in that section tells you about the practicum which will take place on campus which is pretty straightforward. However the first row, it says TBD and TBA for location and time because that's your clinical placement off campus which they will eventually let you know. Now here is the important part, in the same row you will find the days on which the off campus practicum is taking placing. Mine says Monday, Tuesday and Friday. So if you check the schedule they posted on D2L I should be in blue team. If you are in green team then it should show Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Blue team should get Thursdays off and green team are getting Mondays off. Hopefully this makes it little clear.

You'll find the list of which groups are what color on page 27 of the course outline. You can find your group number in two ways. On D2L click on Nurs289 > Communication > Groups where you will see what section you are. In your student centre, if you look at your schedule in the calendar view, you can see the lab section number after "Nursing 289" for the lab on Wednesday afternoon. I hope that helps!

Hello,

I am hoping someone who is currently in or has taken the degree holders route could give me some insight into the program. I received an admission offer for Jan 2020 start today but am torn on whether to accept as I will be a first time mom to a 4 month old when the program starts.

Would anyone be able to give me an idea of a weekly schedule for classes and clinical? Are there any mothers with small babies at home currently doing this program?

Any help and advice would be immensely appreciated!

Hi,

I was just wondering if you ended up joining the program? I'm a mom as well and I have a 9 month old at home. Would be nice to chat if you did end up accepting.

Hi Nurse-Mo,

I did end up accepting! Very nervous for Monday’s start but we will see how it goes. Definitely up to chat anytime! My email is [email protected] if you want to email me at all ?

We might need to band together and form a nursing student/mom support group! Haha.

Please, share how much time do classes take daily. How much time do you spend doing homework?

Hello all, I am new to the thread. Does the baccalaureate degree which is a pre-requisite for the degree holder route come from any program of study(arts, science, business)? Or it has to come from specific field of study ?

It can be any baccalaureate degree.

Thanks

Which other 5 courses(apart from the pre-requisite) can one do from the University of Athabasca or University of Calgary to boost one's CGPA?.

Hey guys, I’m currently in my last year of bachelor of health and phys ed at Mount Royal Uni and interested in applying to u of c degree holders nursing once I graduate. I’m wondering whether Mount Royal is a valid school to apply from? I started overthinking what u of c considers a “recognized/accredited institution and approved degree” and now I’m stressed haha.

Yes, it is a valid school! You just have to make sure you have the prerequisites and required GPA.
