Hello, I’m applying for the U of C degrees holder route for January 2020. Just want to say hi to other applicants. I applied on July 2nd and have not got any update on my application.

Specializes in Harm reduction and sexual health.

Hi folks!!

I just found out I was accepted through the diverse qualifications process! I honestly didn’t think I would get accepted and now I’m kinda freaking out and getting ready to move from Victoria to Calgary! Just wanted to say all the best to folks on the waitlist, I hope you get in! ❤️ And to accepted folks, I’m so excited to meet you all in January!

I have a feeling I’m going to need some warmer clothes.... ?

Congrats on your acceptance!!! Just wondering what's the diverse qualifications process? Never heard of it. And yes bring lots of warm clothes because *** hits the fan usually from January to March.

Haha oh lord, I’m doomed. I dress questionably enough in Vic, so I’ll need to learn quickly.

DQ is a process that considers you on the basis of “special circumstances” or “hardships” and allows you to submit essay answers to three questions, plus provide 2 references. they are only allowed to admit less than 1% of applicants through it tho, so my chances were smaller. It helped because my GPA would not have made the cut.

I’ve worked in harm reduction and youth education for 8 years so I spoke to that experience! It’s definitely worth applying through especially if you worried your GPA is too low. And thanks for the congrats!! ?

Anyone know of anyone getting in with less than a 3.56 for degree holders? I'm feeling like all the spots are about full and have mostly lost hope with my 3.53.

I second that. Has anyone gotten in with a gpa less than 3.50 for the transfer route??

Hey, do any of you know if we need to complete our CPR certification before December 10, or do we need it before classes start?

Hi, I was confused as well since there are different information between the worksheet and the Titan Health & Safety website. However, I did the course through LIFE SAVERS CANADA instead and received the CPR/BLS certificate from Red Cross this morning. It is very quick and they offer more dates to select from. You can search the course on the Red Cross or Heart & Stroke Foundation website.

Do your CPR mid-late December or early January or if you can. You need to renew it every year. If you do it too early, you'll need to renew it during your very busy final focus in your last term.

A word on Titan Health... I'd be cautious going with them. It seems to me like they alternate between Heart and Stroke and Red Cross each year, which forces you to always pay for the full course and not the renewal (not sure if they do that on purpose... if so, shame on them). Since AHS prefers Heart and Stroke, go with a company that offers that every year.

has anyone gotten any rejection letters yet?

I don't think anyone gets rejection letters until the waitlists are disabled on December 15th.
