I'm trying to make a decisions between UBC and UNBC. I'm looking at cost, and time commitment. So far I think I gathered UBC is in person 2 days a week- 5 pay instalments of 1,838.57 for the program= 9,192.85
UNBC had increased to 8 units of full time. 2 full years plus 2 semesters of a practicum? 8x2,308.94= 18,471?? This program is online with NP skills 3 different times
am I getting this wrong?
I read on UNBC's site that fees are set in March for the upcoming year. Their fee schedule for Winter 2024 is for their current semester now, not fall 2024, and for their current stream F/T and P/T 2023/2024. My impression is that fee schedule for 2024/2025 will be adjusted to reflect the new stream starting in Sept 2024. Have you reached out to the MSN department to ask?
@ERNurseHailey - I've been dying to comment but my account has JUST been approved! Haha. Has your status changed at all for UVic? Mine still says "Under Review by Department" and I'm trying to keep my chin up. Any updates on your end?

Sadly no 😞 also trying to keep my chin up until there are definitive things sent out. Are you a "mature admit"?
@ERNurseHailey I don't have a note on my file that classifies me that way. My partner is currently in her last year of the UVic NP Program and I would imagine she would have been considered a mature admit... but it never said so on her file. I'm interested as to why yours might specify that and what significance it has, if any. Kudos to you and your restraint... I probably would have caved and sent an email asking about it! Haha

Oh gosh well now I caved and emailed haha! But yes I've been out of nursing school for 11 years now!
SunnyinBC said:Under review here still too. I would think I would be considered a mature admit as well (15 yrs nursing) but no note on my application noting the same. Will see!
They emailed me back saying "please wait for official communication from graduate admissions and records"

@SunnyinBC Ugh, we're all in the same boat! This waiting game is awful. Keep us updated if you get any new news! My fingers are crossed for all of us.

Back in September I emailed UNBC MScN about this:
"I am seeking clarification on what level of undergraduate statistics course is required for admissions to the MScN-FNP program. Is an Introduction to Statistics course satisfactory or an upper level (300 or 400) statistics course required?
My BScN program covered pathophysiology, research, and pharmacology, but not statistics. So I am hoping to enroll in an appropriate statistics course before submitting an application."
This was their reply: "If you have never taken a statistics course before, then I would say and introductory course is okay."
I am currently taking STATS 1201 with TRU and sent my transcript showing current enrollment with my application to UNBC. I have accepted UNBC's offer and there are no outstanding items requested, after submitting my official VIU BScN transcript and criminal record check. So I'm not sure if they require an official transcript from TRU showing my STATS mark when complete.
Their website is not clear about the requirement and just says "the ideal applicant will show... Satisfactory academic background in their BN/BScN credential with a particular focus on mastery in the following competencies/courses: Research, Statistics, Pathophysiology, & Pharmacology."

I'm doing stats 2101 through TRU and they said that's accepted.
