For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.
I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.
Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!
I remember last year we heard March 25. As people accepted or declined offers of interviews more people were given invitations to the interviews. By the end of this week you should probably have heard if you have an interview. Good luck to you all! The program is super fast paced and races by! Be prepared for a roller coaster, whirlwind and typhoon all wrapped into one. It's great though and such a quick program. We have a year left now and I feel like I just started. Good luck and I hope you all get into the UBC program as it's terrific!
I think at this stage, it is important for everyone to relax. We've submitted our applications, and now the whole process is out of our control until interview time. Be confident! Set your e-mail to give a sound when an e-mail comes in so you don't have to check repetitively :) The invitations may not come out until next week, so no point in checking. You'll have a few days to accept/ decline the interview, so you don't need to get it right when it comes in.
I can tell lots of people are nervous - 13 people are reading the forum as I type, and thousands of views have come up in the last little while. We will all get through it. The time will pass faster if you are not thinking about it. Remember that even if it is not a favourable result, life will continue and there will be other opportunities. That said, UBC is a great school, and studying there would be a fantastic opportunity.
I have been lurking this thread for quite some time and finally decided to make an account :) I really appreciated the advice on this and last year's threads.
I strongly agree with futurenursling. I think it's really important that everyone takes a step back and calms down. Yes I get it, we're all very antsy and nervous. But worrying is not going to accomplish anything. Some people are demonstrating such high levels of stress and when we're all nurses someday we're going to be put in some very stressful situations...just remember that this is now beyond our control and whatever happens happens. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. I know we all want to be nurses and go to UBC. Just remember that this is a journey and our pathways to become RNs are all unique. We'll all get there eventually :)
I read on the Admissions section of the UBC Nursing website that "All applicants will be informed of their selection status by the end of the first week in April and those who are selected for an interview will be contacted through email by the School of Nursing Admissions Office". So this might take a few weeks....good luck to all!
